southsider2k5
http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/rumors/post/Ma...?urn=mlb-288803 Marlins and Javier Vazquez close on deal? By Mark J. Miller The welcome mat is being rolled out in the Sunshine State for Javier Vazquez(notes). A source is telling ESPN that the conversations between Vazquez and the Florida Marlins are "hot" and that he will likely sign with the Marlins. The money to snag Vazquez, who went 10-10 with a 5.32 ERA for the New York Yankees last season, came partially from the cash the team saved when it traded second baseman Dan Uggla(notes) to the Atlanta Braves last week. The 34-year-old with the lietime 152-149 record has played for five pro teams so far and he has a few interested in signing him this offseason, including the Washington Nationals, Chicago Cubs, and Colorado Rockies. ESPN predicts that it will take more than $8 million to sign Vazquez for one season. Last year, he made $11.5 million.
LittleHurt05
If Javy goes to Florida, I bet he has a great year. ERA in the low 3s, maybe even under 3. The combination of the NL, no pressure, and and super close to Puerto Rico will have him excelling down there.

chw42
I see this as a very good move for Florida. I find it funny that Nolasco and Vazquez, the two guys who always have good FIPs but mediocre or bad ERAs will be on the same team. This will be a good experiment. Milkman delivers
It makes sense for him, a team that won't compete in front of no crowds and he's close to home. I wish him nothing but the worst. Funny to see the teams interested in him, though.
maggsmaggs
He's such a bum. Any amount of pressure on him and he's gone.
Rowand44
QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 11:50 AM) I wish him nothing but the worst. Agreed. This is literally the perfect situation for him though, he might put up some fantastic numbers this season.
chw42
I could see 2009 numbers again and then Keith Law voting for him on his Cy Young ballot. Edited November 24, 2010 by chw42
elrockinMT
Javy is the best .500 pitcher out there
iamshack
QUOTE (chw42 @ Nov 24, 2010 -> 01:52 PM) I could see 2009 numbers again and then Keith Law voting for him on his Cy Young ballot. I took a flyer on him in my keeper league redraft, knowing he would probably end up with a small market NL team. I expect a pretty solid season out of him. Pretty happy if this comes to fruition. earthshiner
unless Boone Logan gets traded, this is gonna be his first year without Javy as a teammate.
Quin
Best place possible for Javy.

lostfan
The opening of this Yahoo sports article makes Vazquez sound like a huge p****. True though. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AilM...etvazquez112810
Balta1701
The Marlins giving $7 million to Javier Vazquez makes sense on a one-year deal. He's an innings eater who'll take pressure off the rest of the staff. As one GM put it, they "traded'' Dan Uggla for Omar Infante, Mike Dunn, John Buck and Javier Vazquez. Not too bad. From Vazquez's perspective, he needed to be in the NL and has a condo in Sunny Isles, 15 minutes from the ballpark. While the Yankees have yet to secure Jeter, Rivera or Lee, at least they get a draft choice for Vazquez.
