ChiliIrishHammock24
QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 5, 2011 -> 01:07 AM) What Ex-Sox player was at bat when Rickey Henderson stole a base to pass Lou Brock for 1st all time? Had to look up the year he did it so I could get some sort of idea. 1991, I would say.....Jose Canseco? Not sure if Jose was a great player by then since this person was probably batting 2nd, 3rd, or 4th since Rickey was on-base, and being that he stole 3B, it's possible that an at-bat happened in-between, so I am guessing it was a 3rd or 4th hitter, and if Canseco was good by then, then he would be the perfect candidate. witesoxfan
My guess for Knight's question would be Harold Baines. I know he played for the A's early in the 90s, is a well known player for the Sox, and would have been batting 2nd or 3rdd in 1991 because he was a damn good hitter. EDIT: Or perhaps 4th Edited January 5, 2011 by witesoxfan

EDIT: Or perhaps 4th Just looked up the answer, and you are right, it was Baines. Canseco batted 3rd, but flew out with Rickey on 2nd base. Then Baines came up hitting 4th, and Rickey stole 3B for the record.

When it was published, it was a cool fact!
