SoxFan1
QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 01:35 AM) Yeah, but hard to not call Nadal the true #1 if he wins, he just ups his game big time for when it matters the most. I know Federer has always come off as a pretty good guy, but I'm happy his time as the dominant number 1 has firmly come to an end. I greatly dislike Federer, always have. I just don't like how he is on the court and in his press conferences. And I think Djokovic proved himself to a lot of people today. That 2nd set was magical. I think he used to be a huge sore loser back when Sampras/Agassi were dominating the tennis world, but since than he has been humble yet I still don't like him. And my dislike for him goes back before Djokovic was ever really in the picture at the top. I've always liked Nadal more. The thing that irks me about Federer is that he doesn't often tell it like it is. Watch his match vs Tsonga in the quarters and then compare it to what he said. Few people have an unbiased view of themselves. I used to think Nadal was a punk, he still get overexcited at times, but he's grown out of that. That said, I will root against the Djoker whenever possible. I was torn between rooting against the Serb or rooting against Nadal so Fed can keep the slam record. And there's a wide gap between being unbiased and in denial. Any top player would realize that he wasn't on top of his game after going up 2 sets to none. I don't think you should take what athletes say in interviews too literally. I'm shocked you haven't learned that already having where you work. Unless you catch them off guard most will defer to the same lines. In his book Agassi talks about how he often didn't know what he was saying during interviews. He said what he thought people wanted to hear instead of 'I hate Boris Becker so much and beating him was a great feeling.' You just don't hear stuff like that.
