southsider2k5
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 02:59 AM) Well, Boras did recently say he has talked to Crede na Joe is ready to go in 2011 and wants to play. He is suppose to be healthy too. With that said we already have a Joe Crede on the team and his name is Brent Morel, just whole lotta younger! Crede says the exact same thing every year. Jordan4life_2007
QUOTE (Special K @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 09:15 AM) He's not a bad baseball player, just injury plagued since 2006 And that injury has turned him into a bad baseball player. JorgeFabregas
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 5, 2010 -> 11:26 PM) check out crede's stats last year. Which stats? 0 games played? I think Crede will be lucky to get a minor league deal--more likely he will get an ST invite somewhere.
JorgeFabregas
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 09:55 AM) By that, of course, I mean Dallas McPherson. Somehow I missed this signing. I predicted it during an A's gamethread--I'm just glad that they don't have to seriously consider him as part of some DH committee. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...t&p=2266157
knightni
I wonder... If Morel is a doubles machine in Spring Training, would they consider him as the #2 hitter?
Leonard Washington
QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 12:11 AM) I wonder... If Morel is a doubles machine in Spring Training, would they consider him as the #2 hitter? Maybe at some point. But I doubt they'd throw him in the fire like that. He's also not very patient, so I don't know if he's the best fit.
knightni
QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 12:14 AM) Maybe at some point. But I doubt they'd throw him in the fire like that. He's also not very patient, so I don't know if he's the best fit. He's as patient as Ramirez and Beckham (not very.)
GREEDY
Do the Cubs have a Ron Santo suggestion thread every offseason?
soxfan-kwman
Maybe Crede will become the Grant Hill of baseball... If not, I'm guessing Omar will play about a 90 games at third this year.

kevo880
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Jan 19, 2011 -> 03:25 PM) CREDE!!!!!!!!!! Nice, I moved to Denver recently. It would be great to see Crede at Coors!
Jordan4life_2007
Crede on a minor league deal? No risk at all there. The bat is a tad above replacement level and defense still plus when healthy.

The bat is a tad above replacement level and defense still plus when healthy. There is no way he remains healthy enough to contribute for a full season or sees enough playing time to make a real impact.

And you're probably 99 correct. But at least with a guy like Crede, who has a semi-proven pedigree, you can see some upside, no matter how small, on a minor league deal. It's not like thinking Phillip Humber has a chance to catch lightening in a bottle.
elrockinMT
QUOTE (kevo880 @ Jan 19, 2011 -> 09:30 PM) Nice, I moved to Denver recently. It would be great to see Crede at Coors! I saw him at Coors in 2005 when the Sox played the Rockies. Joe hit a two run homer in the top of the ninth that brought the Big Hurt up to PH. Frank followed with a homer to dead center. Greatest Sox thrill I have had was to see Thomas hit that homer Edited January 19, 2011 by elrockinMT
