Quin
So, if we resign Konerko, what are we doing with Viciedo? Does he start in AAA? Trade him? Or do we see if he can play LF or RF and give him some time there, third, and first so that he gets at bats? Maybe even become the right fielder? ChiliIrishHammock24
Honestly, I think we trade him. With Dunn and Konerko, it likely means the next 3 years will be occupied at 1B/DH. In those 3 years, it is entirely possible to groom a 1B prospect via draft or trade. As much as I like Viciedo, I think he needs to be traded for a legit OF. I wonder if the Cardinals could be a match with Pujols and Berkman likely off the books after this year. And if the Cards resign Pujols, they could always trade Dayan and upgrade themselves as well. And I think we all know what OF the Cardinals have that Kenny/Sox fans would like to see.
bschmaranz
Yeah I'm gonna agree with Joe. I can't imagine us not trading him if Konerko winds up coming back. Whether it's for an outfielder or some bullpen help, Viciedo would be best suited helping us fill in the gaps in other areas. Lemon_44
Why trade him? He's only 21 years old. So what if he has a year, or two, more in the minors. What if Konerko/Dunn gets injured. He'd be a nice guy to step in. I don't think the Sox have any interest in trading him. And, if so, it would have to be for a pretty good return. 21 year olds with his type of raw power don't grow on trees, not to mention he hit over .300 in his limted AB's. I don't think he'll be .300 hitter but I wouldn't be totally shocked if he was.
justBLAZE
From my conversation with Brett Ballantini - KW *loves* Dayan. Untouchable at '10 trade deadline. Has Big Hurt/Dick Allen thump to his bat. He'll get a shot, sometime
jjbabins
I could be wrong about this, but i thought i remembered reading something about him switching agents to boras. if so, that could give us a glimpse of his future here...especially if he puts together a couple of monster years. he could get expensive - im probably getting a little ahead of myself but whatever
maggsmaggs
I wouldn't be surprised to see him play some OF during this season. When Carlos becomes an $8 million player through arbitration despite his injury risk, the Sox will likely need to cut ties with him. However, even if he makes the team out of spring training next year....he won't be a free agent before 2016.
soxrwhite
A tough call. He of the iron glove and no plate discipline. He has a presence though doesn't he. I don't know what you could get for him now. Play him and his value can go up or down. Another year in the minors to up his value then trade him. His defense is too big a liability. It is baseball after all not home run derby.
Chicago White Sox
Send Dayan to AAA and try him in the OF. If he shows he can handle it, then you have your 2012 LF/RF. If not, you can look into trading him at the deadline or next offseason. The kid is still extremely young and raw. I don't see how his value could go down by giving him more seasoning and a chance to play a position where his bat would be more valuable at. Whatever you do, you don't just trade a prospect like Dayan because there is no immediete fit for him. A bunch of s*** could go down and having a bat like his in AAA is incredibly valuable. DukeNukeEm
Dayan is cheap. We are gonna to try and shed salary in any trades. I doubt he goes anywhere except maybe as an extra piece.
Eminor3rd
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Viciedo have a major league contract or something? I thought he was making over $1m per year.
knightni
I could see a platoon with Morel and Quentin at 3B and RF, respectively.
southsider2k5
The plan for Dayan? I am guessing a quiet evening of ravaging the Old Country Buffet.

I thought he was making over $1m per year. Yes he did, but it doesn't have any effect on his service time at all, so at the end of the day, he will still need to accumulate 6 years of service or be non-tendered before he can become a free agent.
