Of course he will. His ideal lineup with our current roster would be something like...

1) Pierre

2) Lillebridge

3) Teahen

4) Vizquel

5) Teahen

6) Teahen

7) Teahen

8) Vizquel

9) Pierre

Bench

1) Konerko

2) Dunn

You forgot Kotsay. It doesn't matter if he's not signed, he'll just show up, every day.

Like that guy in Office Space with the stapler.

Well, Kenny "fixed the glitch" with Kotsay, so he assumes he [Kotsay] will stop showing up when he stops receiving a paycheck...but you never know.

If he shows up, he's starting over Dunn, though.

Sox players I've spoken to are still hearing that PK deal will happen. It better happen soon, because KW now has a Plan B in case. - Cowley

The same Cowley who said AJ was headed to Toronto, then edited his story. He signs with the Sox and was close to signing with the Dodgers. I wonder if when he talks about the "Sox players" he's speaking to, if he means Oney.

I'd go..

Pierre

Beckham

Konerko

Dunn

Rios

Quentin

AJP

Ramirez

Morel

I just love the 3-6. That's the "danger zone" right there.

Man if we could get the old TCQ back from 2008... that 3-6 would be enough to make any opposing pitcher's sphincter pucker up.

Both Merkin and Reifort spinning stories how Kenny and Ozzie are 'rebuilding' their relationship.

Ozzie has been quoted saying that last year was so bad, he didn't enjoy any of the wins, even the 25-5 run.

KW rebuilt it by signing Dunn and hopefully re-signing Konerko. Then there can't be any arguing over the DH spot.

For those who said they would welcome Bobby Jenks back on a lot smaller deal, would you be confident with him closing? Ozzie has said if Bobby were to come back he would NOT be guaranteed the closer's job.

EDIT: fixed

I'd be content having him come back cheaper and have to fight for the spot. his peripherals from last year indicate that he wasn't nearly as bad as he looked.

I don't think Bobby would come unless he had the closer label. If he doesn't get it here he'll get it somewhere else. He seems too proud to come back for less money AND a lesser role.

Well I think he's only good if he's closing. If we couldn't get Putz or spend more on Soriano, then I guess Jenks would be alright for another run around at a cheaper price. I mean, who else is there? I just wish the thick lump would take his weight more seriously and come back next year in better shape.

That would depend on Peavy's health which would affect Sale's role, and who else is in there. I'd rather have Jenks close than Thornton, but not Putz.

I think he said in recent informal interview that he really wants to back, closer or not.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Dec 6, 2010 -> 02:57 PM)
sabermetrically yes.

I just ran our lineup through Pinto's lineup generator. I averaged Morel's major and minor league stats to try to clear up some massive sample size issues, but this is what i got.

You get 5.239 Runs per game from the order of Dunn, Konerko, Beckham, Quentin, Rios, Morel, Ramirez, Piersynski, and Pierre. This is bizzare and unworkable, but the logic is sound. The key to winning baseball games is about getting your best hitters the most at-bats.
