Big Daddy Kool
AdamKilgoreWPDon't completely rule out Cliff Lee signing with the Nats, or team and agent continuing dialogue. The 7-year offer, though, won't be made About that buzz that the #Nats are going to throw seven years at Cliff Lee? "Not happening," a team source said. http://wapo.st/hEUMdC 14 minutes ago via web Edited December 7, 2010 by Big Daddy Kool
Steve9347
QUOTE (quickman @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 08:16 AM) Nicely said, What i am hearing is the Dbacks and whitesox are very close on the money side of things. Konerko is truly thinking about this because He can spend three years at home with his wife and kids as they are in the growing age stage. Three years at home with your family around for about the same money (Dbacks offering a touch less) or three years on the road with your only team and a chance to win the division. Thats why this is taking another day. Wait, are you telling me that Paul Konerko's family doesn't live in Chicago? (immediate, wife and children) I don't believe that. SoxFan562004
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 10:05 AM) Sounds a bit to me like the best offer thus far has come within the division... I would imagine the Twins would have some good young players to make great offer, but also could be KC posturing for other teams. I think it's more common than some may think. As far as PK, I thought it was pretty well known that his family was in AZ.

maggsmaggs
QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 03:06 AM) The fact that Dunn and Pierzynski both deferred money in order to try and get Konerko back, and Konerko still didn't resign, makes me think Konerko is being a big jerk. I'm starting to think "good ridance" to Konerko. It's all negotiations. The Sox and Konerko (Landis) just started talking in-depth Monday because prior to Paul felt it was in his best interest to shop his services. Then Dunn/AJ came back and things changed from his perspective. Negotiations are never simple. Paul doesn't have much leverage here because the market is pretty dry for him, but he and his agent are still playing this slow to try and get the best deal possible. Paul doesn't have much leverage here because the market is pretty dry for him, but he and his agent are still playing this slow to try and get the best deal possible. Konerko went into the offseason thinking his time with the White Sox was done. KW and JR know this, which is why they made the public ploy about Dunn and AJP taking less money. PK is definitely not going to take any home town discounts, and if anything, we might have to pay some more money than the Dbacks would. maggsmaggs
Ok. Lee + Wood + 2 picks = a better team than with just Konerko. If by tomorrow, sufficient progress isn't made, KW move on.
Dick Allen
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 7, 2010 -> 10:06 AM) Wait, are you telling me that Paul Konerko's family doesn't live in Chicago? (immediate, wife and children) I don't believe that. I believe the only member of the 2010 White Sox to live in the Chicago area during the offseason was Jenks. Paulie lives in AZ, supposedly not more than a block or 2 away from JR's residence there. Playing in AZ would give him more family time. As his kids get to school age, they can't be coming to Chicago in April and May or September. Its understandable why he would take less money to play for the DBacks.
