Seems like there are several Tennesseans here on soxtalk. How'd you guys end up in Tennessee/end up Sox fans in Tennessee? I'm interested as I'm a temporary transplant as well.

I'm at Univ. of Tennessee as a postdoctoral research associate.

My wife and I have toyed with the idea of moving to Central Florida for about 9 months now. Our biggest hold back was my wife's family, we didnt want to "offend" her mother by "turning out back" on Iowa and "deserting" the family.

Well, this morning my wife "jokingly" said "I may have to move somewhere warm." To our surprise, her mom said that sounded great, as long as we moved somewhere that's warm all year so they can come during the winter!

The shackles are off! Florida, here we come!

I'm jealous. I'm almost in the same situation, except my woman's mom puts ideas in her head that I'm going to leave her and she's not going to have any family near her at all. So my girlfriend believes it and refuses to entertain the idea of moving anywhere outside of the city. It really really really really sucks. I've been trying to convince her for about 6 months to move to Los Angeles/Anaheim area, Miami/Fort Lauderdale, or even San Diego to which the answer is always no. And the worse thing is, I think I get a case of seasonal depression from this stuff.

It was 80º on Friday here.... And I HATED it haha

Yeah, you do have your nice weather, but we have one advantage. By not living in California, tomorrow when we wake up from bed, we can be assured of what side of the block that our house is still on. LOL :D

I know, I know...we live in Chicago. We have a sucky winter every year what else would I expect.

This year it has been ridiculous in how early and harsh it has showed itself. Me and the wife are edging closer and closer to moving out of this city just because of the weather alone.

Austin, TX here we come because this is a frickin joke.

16 years ago, the Pastor of my church came here from the Buffalo area. I asked him to give me his best snow story. The jist of it was..............there was a huge drift by his home. When the drift froze, he climbed up te drift and touched the top of the telephone pole.

He told me that Oswego is even worse. Not sure how it is now, but back then he said that their average snowfall every year was between 200 and 250 inches per year The most he remembers is that there was one year that Oswego had over 400 inches.

That is just plain insanity!
