justBLAZE
QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 09:16 AM) I don't know why people keep coming up with these Juan Pierre trade scenarios. He's clearly not going anywhere. Guillen loves him, and unlike with guys like Quentin and Beckham, there has been no speculation whatsoever this offseason about him being moved. He has one year left on his current contract, and he'll serve out that year as the Sox' leftfielder and lead-off hitter. People like to play fantasy GM and come out with trade ideas all the time, most of the time they are simply ridiculous.
elrockinMT
QUOTE (La Marr Hoyt HOF @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 02:04 AM) Yankees have tons of prospects, 1.5 quality starters and some OF love to go around. Kenny, make the call.... We'll take Granderson too.... Is somebody selling off their team?
Buehrlesque
QUOTE (bschmaranz @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 12:07 AM) I don't see #2 happening but other then that, I think it's somewhat feasible. Certainly not probable though. I agree that one was the least likely. But really, I'd just take Gardner for Floyd there, which is at least a little more likely. Joba would be a nice piece for the pen, but isn't necessary. The whole plan would still work.
elrockinMT
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 04:29 AM) Am I the only crazy person who doesn't want to trade anybody from our rotation???? This doesn't make ANY sense to me. We're going "all in" by trading a piece of our awesome rotation? Or by dealing a good bat for relievers? You are correct in your indignation in my humble opinion. Why trade our strength to fill some perceived hole. You justy weaken yourself somewhere else. There may be trade, but not of CQ and I would rather explore the FA market if possible for a reliever

Eminor3rd
I think Brian Cashman knows that everyone thinks he's desperate, and that he won't make any dumb deals.
witesoxfan
I don't think the Yankees are really that desperate. They're still a playoff team in all likelihood, and they're still going to sign a few players. If something comes up in the middle of the season, they can make the move then. Cliff Lee is the kind of pitcher that goes on the market once every 2-3 years, and the Yankees wanted to get him. He was a luxury as opposed to a necessity. He would be a luxury for anyone, but considering they have CC, Hughes, and Burnett as the base of their rotation, and they can't really bring back Pavano, they do need to address their SP. Lemon_44
QUOTE (Lillian @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 08:16 AM) Carlos Quentin and Sale is too much to give for Brown. Wouldn't K.W. be crazy to even consider that? Philly would take that deal in a second and that's way too much to give for Brown. KW, I doubt would even consider that. That's true, I suppose I was thinking more of Texas when in reality he chose the most "luxurious" place of all, considering he's going to be in the middle of that rotation. Still, they have time and the resources to ride the storm out. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 06:18 PM) Philly would take that deal in a second and that's way too much to give for Brown. KW, I doubt would even consider that. Yeah, OK, a top 10 prospect in the game who just put up a .980 OPS in AAA as a 22 year old isn't going to be traded for an outfielder who is terrible defensively, is coming off a solid but very streaky season, and is injury prone along with a pitcher who has so-so mechanics while questions loom as to whether or not he is actually going to be able to start. I doubt Ruben Amaro would even consider that deal. I guarantee you Williams does.
Leonard Washington
Sale can't be traded anyways so it's a moot point.
Dick Allen
I think people are putting way too much on Sale. The guy has 23 innings pitched in his major league career and 33 innings pitched as a professional. Chances are he is going to struggle at some point, and probably for a while. He's talented no doubt, but even talented pitchers suffer growing pains. I don't see why he's going to be different.
