greg775
A few points.... • I wonder if twitter would go away if the media didn't keep quoting things people say on twitter. How many people actually use the thing? • I don't see why anybody would give a f*** what Oney Guillen tweets. What does he have to do with anything? If he wants to reveal Bobby's problems, I guess somebody could ask Bobby to comment on what Oney is saying, but it's pretty irresponsible for anybody to quote a nobody like Oney Guillen's twitter posts. Who cares what Oney Guillen has to say on twitter? • I don't see how this involves Ozzie or your feelings about Ozzie at all. This is his kid. He has nothing to do with another grown human being over 21 years old. Why anybody thinks any of this reflects badly on Ozzie is beyond me. • Paul Konerko and AJP are back with the Sox; we just added Adam Dunn and Crain. If anybody thinks Ozzie is unbelievably difficult to play for or is a complete buffoon ... then why in the hell would these two veterans return (life is too short) and why would ANY free agents who could go anywhere sign with us? Believe me, if a veteran like Konerko thought Ozzie hurt his performance at all, he'd be outta here. And if AJ thought Ozzie was incapable of leading us to a WS title, he'd have gone elsewhere. Oh wait, he HAS already led us to a WS title. Just my two cents on NY's Rockin Eve.

The Gooch
QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 31, 2010 -> 01:25 PM) There is a difference between "doing things your way" and acting recklessly. In my humble opinion, the behavior of the Guillen family over the past year or 18 months would be characterized more towards the latter. Well put... Oh wait, he HAS already led us to a WS title. Just my two cents on NY's Rockin Eve. A lot of people use Twitter, especially those in the media. So you might as well just get used to it. People care what Oney Guillen tweets because he's Ozzie's son and he grew up in clubhouses. He knows a lot more about what happens in private than any of us here, whether it's with the White Sox or with whatever other team Ozzie's been employed by. He might not be the most trustworthy person in the world, especially after this incident, but everything he said about Jenks is something we already had a clue about (outside of punching the clubhouse attendant). So I don't think he was lying. Even though Oney should be a grown man, almost everybody in the Guillen family feeds off of Ozzie, especially Oney. I mean, this guy got a shot at pro ball because of his dad. He got to work in the organization because of his old man. I'm willing to bet they spend a lot of time together in the off-season. It's not improbable that Ozzie might have said some of this stuff to Oney. But you're right, players usually don't care what the manager's son does, especially if he's over 21. But people don't like Ozzie to begin with. There's been numerous polls saying that most players don't like Ozzie and don't want to play for him. That's mostly his fault because of the Tracey incident in 2006 and numerous other things that he said in the past. In the end though, money talks and that's how the Sox got Dunn and Crain to join them this off-season.

BigSqwert
QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 31, 2010 -> 10:31 PM) Oh boy. How come when you make posts I often have to stifle myself lest I respond and get in trouble? Hey I use twitter. I know what it is. I think many people have better things to do than post on there. At times, I'm mildly amused by it. I said I use it at times. Some good responses on here about why people might care about Oney. I accept those responses. I didn't have the patience to read through this whole thread to see what exactly Jenks has done in the past. I read something about crying in Oz's office, now I read Jenks punched out the attendant? Also read something about his drinking again. I still think Oney doesn't matter much in the grand scheme of things and this doesn't reflect on Ozzie much if any. I'm just teasing you. Happy new year brother!

Kyyle23
"I can't live in other players' shoes," Thornton said. "I don't have any personal interaction with that kind of stuff with Ozzie. My talks with Ozzie are strictly baseball and that's it. I take care of my personal business and I work hard and keep my nose clean and just go about my business in a professional matter. That kind of stuff doesn't affect me that much. I don't know how it's going to affect guys who have that kind of relationship with Ozzie where they have to disclose personal information with him and talk about personal things. It might. You never know. .. You can't have those kind of worries." Thornton isn't alone in condemning Guillen's tweets. White Sox general manager Kenny Williams said the comments may have compromised the integrity of the White Sox's clubhouse. Everyone still think that baseball players dont care what happened and that Oney is irrelevant?
BigSqwert
I wonder how Thornton even found about about this whole thing. iamshack
Is there a slip in there when he mentions he keeps his nose clean? "I can't live in other players' shoes," Thornton said. Like when you ask one of the Bulls guys about their team this year and they say how much better their schemes are. Probably was just finding a way to look the other way for so long so that it wouldn't bother him.
