Oh, and not only am I more original than you, but I know Del Toro because we play in a softball league together...and he told me he's not original, and furthermore, you aren't either.

I'm actually roommates with Chris Nolan and he told me he hasn't had an original idea since 4th grade....plus he loathes you.

Damn, you win. :(

You even get to refer to him as Chris. :( :(

He makes me call him Mr. Nolan, or Christopher.

Glad to see The King's Speech rack up so many nominations. For my money, it was the best picture of the year. I wouldn't mind if it wins every major category in which it is nominated.

Having said that, here are my predictions for the top awards:

Best Picture: The Social Network (but I want King's Speech)

Best Director: Darren Aronofsky

Best Actor: Colin Firth (really don't see this going any other way)

Best Actress: Natalie Portman (Michelle Williams as a possible dark horse)

Best Supporting Actor: Christian Bale (very cool to see John Hawkes nominated for an Oscar, Renner is pretty surprising, and wouldn't mind if Rush won)

Best Supporting Actress: Anyone's game, I think. I would give it to the girl from True Grit by far, though.

Nobody cares about the first two, and Del Toro isn't original, either, by your rational. All lift ideas from others, therefore their originality is lost in translation.

Eternal Sunshine wasn't original either. :P

Del Toro directed Blade II and Helboy II. Original? Why? Because of Pan's Lab? :P

Del Toro did a pretty good job with Hellboy II, but a lot of the monsters were derivatives of Pan monsters.

By this time tomorrow i will have completed what i consider the top 250 list on imdb. I only have a couple anime films left... for the record i shall not be watching nausicaä of the valley of the wind (number 250), as it just got added to the list very recently, and can be knocked off at any given moment. I will also not be watching the movie that sits at number 245. That movie would be three colors: red, which is the last part of the three colors trilogy by krzysztof kieslowski. Three colors: red also recently got added to the list, and it will be falling off any given day, so i won't be watching it. From 245 until 250 the movies fluctuates so often on the list... so i'm not gonna suddenly watch a film that just squeaked on, for it to be back off any day/week in the near future.

I'd pictured someone less bulky.

i agree, Rolands character was made with classic western Clint Eastwood in mind, so i also imagined a taller thinner Roland. But Bardem is a fantastic actor, i think i can get behind this choice

He's also quite dedicated, so I bet he slims down.

Saw the Other Guys yesterday. Like just about every Will Ferrell movie, it had a couple good laughs but overall was disappointing. I can't think of a movie of his I've liked since Anchorman.

I thought he was terrific in an atypical role in Stranger than Fiction.
