Boras is playing games with Kenny again.

I heavily doubt that Soriano would take a cheaper deal just because of Ozzie. Besides, is there even a history between the two?

He's trying to drum up competition for his services in any way possible.

Totally agreed, there is no way this can be true other than someone leaking rumors about teams who might need closers to drum up interest. I cannot see how this could be without some other shedding of salary.

I suppose stranger things have happened, but I would think the Sox would have to dump a starter for this to happen. Trade someone like Jackson for prospects or lower paid guys, bring back Garcia cheap, and sign Soriano. It may work, but its Boras I believe which makes this report probably BS.

I doubt that Garcia would be cheap. If anything, they'd move Sale to the rotation if they deal a SP.

That wouldn't work. Garcia probably wouldn't work, but losing 200 innings for the gigantic question that would be Chris Sale in the starting rotation isn't prudent, and certainly isn't "all in".

The Sox would be a way better team in a scenario where they get a good OF prospect for Jackson, sign Soriano to Jackson's salary, and bring Garcia back for a reasonable amount.

I think Garcia is going to cost about $5 mill, and he still brings in considerable durability issues. That'd be about $13 million, and really, is the upgrade in the bullpen going to be worth the additional $5 mill plus the downgrade in the rotation?
