I wonder what realistic chance either of Brian Bruney or Jeff Gray have at the 7th spot along with Carter, Infante and Nunez??

Bruney might get a shot. I totally forgot those two were even on the team.

Josh Kinney has also been rumored to be one of the NRIs.

He had a decent year at AAA Memphis in 2010.

1.80 ERA in 60 innings. 51 K's and WHIP under 1.

Remembered he was once a decent reliever with the Cardinals.

I can definitely stomach $1.5 million. You have to give Ozzie a LOOGY or else he'll try to use Randy Williams again or something.

Yeah, I'm definitely down with 1 year, $1.5 for a guy that's only going to be counted on to get guys who swing the bat left-handed. It's multi-year deals for relievers that make me ill.

I like it for that cheap and for a year.

Also, with Soriano's market dwindling to it seems just the Angels, if they don't sign him, KW could swoop in at the end of the offseason..

CL - Soriano

SU - Thornton

SU - Crain

MR - Sale

MR - Santos

LR - Ohman

LR - Pena

Soriano would be a luxury, and it'll probably be the other six plus Infante, but that'd be a lethal bullpen.

Has any team in baseball had a worse off-season than the Angels? Or at least out of the teams that matter [Pirates don't count]. And no way in hell are we getting Soriano. And I don't want him for the years and money he will command.

I still say his price will come down.

His suitors went from Angels, Yankees, White Sox to Angels because Sox don't like the price and Yankees want their first rounder.

If Angels don't pay him, his price will come down.

re: Ohman as LOOGY: Did the Cubs use him in this role? I seem to remember him coming in for, sometimes, an extended period of time. Don't think it was just mop up or fluff innings either, though I may just be misremembering as Roger likes to say, or it could simply be a testament to recent Cub bullpens...

Well, if Thornton departs after 2011, there's still need for LH pitching in the pen for 2012.

The Sox should have sured up Matt long ago. Although he's getting up there in age, so IDK. He's a tough situation next year.

Let's hope Sergio gets better next year. His peripherals last year said he got pretty lucky, but we shall see.

That's not so bad.

It's the last of the team's free agency money though, I'm willing to bet.

Oh well, at least they spent it wisely on a part of the team that needed improvement. Ohman was easily the best left handed specialist remaining on the market.
