LOOGY's galore!

Byrdak's only gonna get a minor league deal?

Someone suggested that this morning I believe.

The motivation of Byrdak on a minor league deal would be; Sale starts the season in the rotation, Thornton starts the season as closer...Ohman and Byrdak start the season as lefty specialists.

Seems to me like we have our team now (pending the Ohman physical). What other rumors out there seem realistic? Do we still think CQ gets moved?

This may very well be it.

KW has said he's not trading anyone from the major league roster (referring specifically to CQ) without getting something in return that would vastly improve the squad.

I could see him trading some young guys (Flowers, Viciedo), but I kinda doubt it. Those deals are usually centered around major league players or guys close to the majors and with our squad basically set, it's unlikely.

You are correct sir!

I would like to quickly point out that we can't have it both ways:

The Peavy insurance money went to Dunn

AND

Peavy is in the rotation

----------------------------------

Another thought I would like to put out there is: It seems that Sale had a few "demands" on draft day and that KW seemingly is accomodating him. I'd bet one of his "demands" was that he was a starting pitcher in 2011.

So, yes I am in the Sale will be a starter camp.

Id say he is done. There is not much room to even add anyone to the 25man roster. The Bullpen is set, lineup is set, the bench is set, the only thing I could imagine would be still searching for a fill in candidate for Peavy who can shift to the pen when/if he returns.

You know, I may be in the minority, but I really hope Sale starts the season in Charlotte. The reason is because he clearly isn't going to be throwing as hard as a starter, and I'd like to see him test his "starter repertoire" on the AAA guys before bringing it to the majors. I'd just hate to see him get pounded a couple times early on and hurt his confidence or start trying ridiculous mechanical things to accommodate.

If he is done, is this the accurate 25-man roster?

Buehrle

Peavy-DL

Jackson

Floyd

Danks

Sale

Bullpen: Crain, Infante, Pena, Santos, Thornton, Ohman

Konerko, Beckham, Ramirez, Vizquel, Pierzynski, Pierre, Rios, Quentin, Dunn

Bench: Castro, Teahen, Morel, Lillibridge, De Aza/Viciedo

Would Dolsi or another reliever be good enough to make the team?

That's why you have spring training, guys will battle it out for that last reliever spot.

Right but based off statistics and scouting reports, can any of those guys be good enough to contend for a spot? And also, when is Peavy set to return?

Problem is nobody really knows, the pesimists keep on talking about half the season, the optimist ready to go in April.

I'm not sure the Sox are done, I'm sure KW is monitoring the packages of players received in the Greinke/Garza trades to see what Floyd and Danks would bring if the market is at a high value right now.

Trouble is...trading either of them is almost by definition taking chips off the table for another game, rather than going all-in.

Neither of those trades brought back guys who will make the team trading them significantly better this season.
