Suits

So I'm in need of a couple suits. Going to be doing a lot of work in front of the camera this year, and I really only have one suit but it's not a perfect fit anymore.

Any suggestions on where to look? Is Men's Warehouse all it's cracked out to be? Will I like the way I look.....guaranteed?

Also, I'm not sure exactly what size I need, though I'm assuming I'd need some tailoring either way at 6'6, 230.

Do you get Macy's coupons in the mail? If not, sign up to do so or get some coupons from a friend and head over to the one on State St. They have a huge selection of designer suits that go on sale all the time. With a 20% coupon you could get a kick ass suit for around $100, not including tailoring. I'm 6'4" 225 and had no problem finding suits in my size.

MW is not bad, make sure you go for the designer suits and not the vesini's they try to rope you in with. You can get some good designed suits as a 2 for 1 that will look great on you. I wouldnt get mine tailored there though, at least not the "free" tailoring they have, they skimp on that portion a little.

Macy's isnt bad either, but its a decent step up in price to get one of their good suits.

It all depends on what you want to spend.

I have 2 suits from MW, both are decent. Then, I have one from Brooks Brothers, which is the one I normally wear, but it cost about 10X what the suits from MW cost.

I'm willing to spend up to about $250 on each, before tailoring.

Ok, and second, why do you need two suits? One for parties and one for business?

No, I'm a broadcasting major, and I'll be in front of a camera a lot, and I'd like to be able to mix it up. Plus, I just love suits.

Then hit up MW and look around...don't necessarily go there to buy, just tell them you're looking until you're ready to buy. You can good decent suits at a low cost there. You can also head to Macy's and look for some deals, they often put them on sale at really big savings. Remember, you can have a suit tailored at any tailor, you don't need to have it done in house...all you need is the basic fit.

I was in banking for 5 years until this past July. The last two banks I was employed by required you wear a suit everyday. There was a Jos. A. Bank in Danada Square which I conveniently drove by everyday that got a lot of my business. Macy's too. Now that I've left the industry I have a dozen suits in my closet that haven't seen the light of day since July.

I kinda miss wearing a suit everyday. It definately got me attention from girls if I went out or met up with people right after work.

Burlington Coat Factory has always done right by me. You just have to stay away from the cheap stuff and the zoot suits. A good tailor can make all the difference in the world. I've bought a suit from K&G Fashions before, but I have no idea how they are now. Mens Wearhouse and Bachrach in Woodfield Mall are good too, but a little more expensive. I always check Burlington first before going to either one of those.

I buy all of mine from MW, as someone else said, try to stay away from their cheap ones. You should be able to get 2 nice ones for $500. I actually do receommend having them tailor the suits, anytime I've had em done elsewhere, they have been screwed up. They also will sew any rips that might occur over time around the pockets, etc.

Also as someone mentioned, be careful with the ties. I was in a training video at work and we had professional videographers here, I had to change my tie so that it didn't look funny on camera.

I'm in Commercial Banking , and I wish this industry would give up the whole suit thing. It does get old.

I wear suits 80% of the time in my line of work, and I almost exclusively buy them from MW designer rack. They arent the super cheap stuff they advertise, but last time i went in there I got 4 suits, Kenneth Cole, RL, and CK for under 1200. I consider that a huge win.

So glad I don't have to wear suits anymore. Pick out some ties that will look good on camera. There are some ties that look great in the store that will not look as nice on TV.

Won't be a problem. I have like 30 ties and a ton of dress shirts, but the jacket/pants have been lacking.

Make sure they give you the correct size BTW. I have been to several stores where they think the "baggy" look is still in and they try to give me ridiculously large pants and jackets.

That won't be a problem. I'm looking for a slender fit as it is. I've got style, trust me.

lol, I absolutely cannot wear slender-fit clothes of anything. They just never fit right on me and I always end up with a wedgie up my ass, or pants clinging too tightly on my thighs, or shirts digging into my armpits.

Also, to answer the original poster... I always see a lot of suits at K&G Fashions, I'm thinking of buying a suit there the next time I need one.

Speaking of suits, I'll have to wear one of mines tomorrow for the first time in 2 years for one of my friend's wake. :(

I just bought two new suits for work. Went to MW's and Macy's. Both were pretty similar but damn did Macy's have some amazing sales after January so I went with Macy's. But definitely, you want to go with the fitted look. I know for me I love my slim fit CK's.
