MexSoxFan#1
QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 17, 2011 -> 04:56 PM) I don't know what game you were watching, but Messi had a great game. He had the assist, almost had another that was correctly called back for offside, converted his penalty and drew about a dozen fouls. Fantastic game to watch though. Couldn't agree more, Messi was awesome...Uruguay just converted their PKs, Tevez must feel horrible right now. It's been a long time since the best time in South America isn't either Brasil or Argentina.IMO, Uruguay is the best team in Conmebol. I'm not talking about this one game. Just look at the stats when he plays for his country. He just doesnt score for some reason. Past two seasons he has scored 100 goals in 108 appearances with his club team. In that same time frame, he has 4 goals in 18 matches for Argentina. He is the Lebron James of soccer. He's the best and most talented player in the world but on the biggest stage he just hasnt gotten it done yet.
zenryan
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 08:22 AM) Copa America with a ridiculous semi-finals coming up. Uruguay, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela. Chile, Argentina and Brazil all gone. Real surprising results. An odd semifinal bracket for sure but not really shocking that Argentina and Brazil is out. Both of them have looked very ordinary throughout the tournament. Paraguay and Uruguay appear to be the two best teams in South America right now. LittleHurt05
QUOTE (zenryan @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 04:39 PM) He is the Lebron James of soccer. He's the best and most talented player in the world but on the biggest stage he just hasnt gotten it done yet. Barcelona has won 2 of the last 3 Champ. League titles, and Messi has been the top scorer in the last 3 Championship Leagues. Some would argue that's a bigger, tougher stage than any international tournament. zenryan
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 06:09 PM) Barcelona has won 2 of the last 3 Champ. League titles, and Messi has been the top scorer in the last 3 Championship Leagues. Some would argue that's a bigger, tougher stage than any international tournament. My whole point is him as an international player. He dominates in much more difficult settings, almost averaging a goal a game in CL, but it isnt carrying over. He's gone the weight of a country on him and no doubt its tough. You can tell he's really gripping it out there. And yes, the Champions League is a better tournament. ChiSox_Sonix
Paraguay advanced past Venezuela in PKs. Apparently there was some sort of altercation with punches being thrown afterwards and security had to get involved. Don't know any of the details or what set it off though
MexSoxFan#1
Paraguay hasn't even won a match yet and they're in the Final. Uruguay should make quick work out of them. Uruguay 2 Paraguay

Yeah, the difference between the first and second half was huge. Man U brought out all the big guns in the second half. Fun game to be at. Chisoxfn
Weird. Wouldn't have guessed that. I wonder if we are going to go out and hire the former German World Cup coach. I know in the past his name had been linked.

Soxbadger
Ive seen a few international names, 2 dutch, 2 italian and Jurgen. The only guy Id be adamantly opposed to is Arena or basically any US coach.
LittleHurt05
It has to be Jurgen. They probably discussed it with him, then decided to can Bradley at this random moment. Otherwise, they may have kept Bradley.
