Damn, nice. Did you just know that off of the top of your head, or did you somehow look that up?

Well, I thought of someone I knew who was named Brent, and Brent Abernathy came to mind. Then I looked up what teams he played on, then I searched those teams in Baseball-almanac.com, and looked at the rosters. Sure, it took 5 minutes of looking up, but it was an interesting question.

Then I wanted to see how many degrees of Brent I could go to. Brent Butler ended my streak at 3.

That's the best thing about Soxtalk. When you don't feel like doing the legwork, somebody else usually will. I never realized there were so many Brent's out there. I've never met or even known anyone with an acquaintance named Brent.

Really? I never thought that was that weird or uncommon of a name. I have two friends named Brent actually.

Not a single one. In fact, it sounds to me like anyone with that name should always be wearing a sweater wrapped around their necks while playing tennis.

Brent is an all-time favorite. Currently it is still rather popular as a baby boy name, but to a lesser degree than it was before. The name's popularity rose from the 1930s up to the 1970s; before that, it was of only very modest use. At the peak of its usage in 1970, 0.224% of baby boys were given the name Brent. It had a ranking of #74 then. The baby name has suffered a substantial drop in popularity since then. In 2009, it ranked at #629 with a usage of 0.019%

There's a Brent that we work with that is a spitting image of Ned Flanders. He even talks like him and is super friendly and polite. Never swears. No bible talk though.
