iamshack
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 10:38 AM) Has anyone on here ever gone to a Super Bowl? I think it would be cool, but tickets gotta be like 1000 bucks, I went down to Miami in 06' the year the Bears made it. Your best bet is to wait til right before the game and scalp them. You could have picked some up for that game for around $800-900, which was about half of what they were going for the afternoon of the game. We chose to pick a bar with a really solid open bar deal rather than go to the game. I think we paid $75 for all you could drink from about 2 pm until the end of the game, with a buffet at halftime. Wasn't it raining then? That would affect price too. I'd say that, with how large that Cowboys Stadium is, there should be nosebleed seats available for dropping prices on game day. iamshack
QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 10:42 PM) Wasn't it raining then? That would affect price too. I'd say that, with how large that Cowboys Stadium is, there should be nosebleed seats available for dropping prices on game day. It was raining a bit. Not sure how much it drove down prices though. If you go to the city hosting the Super Bowl with the intent on actually going, a little rain shouldn't stop you. We went with the intention of taking in the atmosphere, but not really seriously going to the game. My friend's dad was perfectly willing to pop for tickets, but we just decided that was silly to spend $3-4k on mediocre seats when we could have a blast at a bar watching the game on tv. Football is just such a made-for-tv sport... Your point about the extra seating capacity in Cowboy Stadium is a good one though.
DrunkBomber
So Rodgers has what was most likely his worst game of the season in the NFC Championship and is on the cover of SI under the text "Superman." At least Big Ben already has some rings so him winning wont be a huge deal. I seriously do not want to hear the nonsense that will be said if Rodgers wins. lostfan
I honestly do not give a s*** about this game. It's been a while since I just blatantly did not give a s*** about the Super Bowl and I don't think I've ever said point-blank that I might not watch it. I like the Steelers, but watching them win a 3rd time is just... so lame. I don't like seeing the same damn teams in the game every year. I'm not about to watch Green Bay either. I feel the exact same way about Pittsburgh, but I have never met fans more annoying than Packers fans - some weird sort of entitlement. The only thing I can do is hope for the Packers to win and be happy for Aaron Rodgers, I guess. It's about time for two teams who have been perennial losers to make it so we can all look forward to the Super Bowl. Bills-Lions?

The Bills would try to kick a field goal at the end of regulation with the game tied, and the Lions would return it for a touchdown.

ChiSox
Yea this is probably the least interested I've ever been in a Superbowl. I absolutely cannot root for the Packers, and I tend to root against non-Chicago teams who win a lot. Oh well, I guess I'll just eat and drink a lot, and only halfway pay attention to the game. I'm sure its much different because everything here is Sox vs Cubs. Cubs fan had the edge until 2005. Now their only argument is attendance because we have a pretty recent WS title and have been better for the most part since then. My rebuttal is always that attendance is why the Cubs haven't won in so long. People will show up no matter how well they do. Keep going to Wrigley and it might be another century! Anyways, GO STEELERS!
Steve9347
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 27, 2011 -> 08:31 AM) I wouldn't say he carried his team. He only has 8 touchdowns in this years playoffs and 800 yards passing. Thats really average. He didn't do jack in the game that got them to the Super Bowl and is lucky he squeaked by a team that had to run a 3rd string passer out there for an entire half. He really only made one bad pass the entire game though, and the Packers played a pretty conservative game considering they were up by 2 touchdowns for most of the game. He played well early and they went into kill the clock mode later pretty much throughout the entirety of the second half (especially when Cutler didn't take the field after the Urlacher pick). Had the Packers needed to drive down the field, I'm pretty sure Rodgers could have done it. He simply didn't need to.

Had the Packers needed to drive down the field, I'm pretty sure Rodgers could have done it. He simply didn't need to. The game was closer than it should have been, Green Bay could have very well went into the half up 21-0. Rodgers played fine, and yes, McCarthy was being very conservative with his play calls in the second half. It bugs the hell out of me but if we are up in a game he plays to not lose rather than continuing with what worked earlier, teams then usually catch up. The saving grace for this team has been our defense and they continue to keep us in games and eventually our offense will put up some points. I'm not surprised Hanie was so successful vs. our defense, the backup QB is someone you don't prepare for going into a game and once they come in everything changes in terms of playcalling, Hanie did well, he reminded me of Matt Flynn.
