Balta1701
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 05:06 PM) Dunn I think Teahen is just as likely, if not more likely. It gets Ozzie an extra LH bat against RHP.
witesoxfan
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 04:09 PM) I think Teahen is just as likely, if not more likely. It gets Ozzie an extra LH bat against RHP. Getting Dunn into the field every now and then to satisfy his desire to play the field would be good for his morale though. Teahen should be happy just to get into the lineup.

Balta1701
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 05:27 PM) Has Dunn played a lot of games at 1b? He was a full-time 1b in Washington the last 2 years. He was ok at the position last year and bad the year before, if you believe UZR. chetkincaid
Ugh.. In 2009, Dunn was rated the worst fielder in the Major Leagues. He was rated -35 in Ultimate Zone Rating. The next closest being Yuniesky Betancourt with -21. Dunn struggled in the field after the Nationals moved him to first base midway through the 2009 season. His UZR/150 at first was an abominable -30.8 -- the next closest first baseman (over 500 innings) was Victor Martinez, at -9.1.[25] Craig Calcaterra of NBC Sports said of Dunn's first base defense in 2010 "I don't think it's a stretch to say that Adam Dunn will be the worst defensive first baseman in baseball in 2010. He may challenge for the title of all-time worst." But not so ugh... Nevertheless, Dunn, for the first time in his career, went into spring training in 2010 as a first baseman. Despite his detractors, by the All Star Break, his UZR/150 was -1.1, ahead of other star first basemen Albert Pujols, Ryan Howard, Mark Texiera, and Prince Fielder. LittleHurt05
QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 05:32 PM) At least he won't play every other day now. Only if Ron Roenicke (who?) is smarter than Ozzie Guillen. Having Mark Kotsay as your 25th man in the NL, when your starting 1B is a fat vegetarian who is not skilled defensively, is not a bad move. Letting him play a lot is a bad move.
Balta1701
Do the Brewers have anyone at 1b in their AAA squad? Because on the off chance that they fall out of the race for whatever reason, they have a tradeable 1b on their big league club.

Gardenhire & Leyland are not dumb enough to let him play every day. He would kill us 3, maybe 4 times a year. Although, the donuts he would bring to the Twins or Tigers, might hurt us all year, I really hope Dunn has the same donut bringing skill. Paint it Black
B..B...BUT what about Kotsay's hardest .220 ever seen?!?!?! What about the flexibility he brings??!?!?! WHERE WILL WE EVER FIND A SLOW DH WHO CAN PLAY THE CORNERS IN A PINCH?!?!?!?!
witesoxfan
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 04:32 PM) Ugh.. But not so ugh... 1. He's bad. 2. He's not the worst defensive 1Bman in the league. 3. Playing him there once or twice a week is not going to significantly hurt the club in the long run. SoxFan562004
This makes a lot of sense to me and can be effective as a bench player on an NL team, good place for him to land, the Crew have a chance to be very good this year.
