I wonder how many copies of P90X have been pirated!

A lot...I know some have been going around my office...I've purchased both P90X's, as well as his One-on-One series (which is where P90X2 was developed basically) and P90X Plus (which admittedly I never even opened :(....I know it sounds completely cheesy, but P90X absolutely changed my life...and so I was always willing to support the creators of the products.

it's a damn shame too. i have two P90X challenge groups that started yesterday and half of those 10 people already had the DVDs that they got "from a friend"

ugh.

ThePirateBay is a good friend of mine, we go way back. Just letting me borrow the discs for a bit, is all!

i hate that s***. they really should make pirating illegal/actually prosecute people for doing it/shut down those sites.

Pirating is illegal and people are prosecuted where applicable. But the US can't shut down foreign-based servers (TPB is based in Sweden).

And I'm not sure the lawmakers will ever be able to stay ahead of the technology to effectively prohibit people from pirating.

Honestly, it comes down to making an ethical and moral choice, and I'm not going to judge people for those choices.

I just hope it doesn't keep good products from hitting the market.

It doesn't. As you see, these products keep hitting the market despite the rampant piracy.

It's simple. The people that pirate your wares weren't going to pay you for them anyway. Corporations and businesses don't want to believe that...they really want to believe that if the person(s) hadn't stolen [it] they would have paid full price, instead...but that's not reality.

The offset is that while there are people that would have bought it but got a pirated copy from a friend...there are just as many people that pirate things, like say, The Avengers, but then go see it 5 times anyway...and then buy the Bluray, too.

Those in the middle...the big pirates...you weren't getting a dime from them either way...so you need not pretend they were potential customers...because they weren't.

Good products sell regardless of pirates. Always have.

Found a neat app for ipod/iphone called Zombies, Run! that has helped me enjoy running a little more.

You play as a runner for a small compound in a zombie apocalypse. You get missions like "run to the hospital and collect some supplies" or "scout that empty town" via voice-acted clips and the app tracks your movement to complete the mission. Your music playlists play in between the mission/story sound clips.

You also collect items as you're running which you use to level up parts of your town, but that part of the app seems very shallow so far.

Still, worth checking out

That's where you are wrong. 1 hour every day IS a lot to ask. I work out 3-4 days a week, that's it..

So how long do you work out on those 3-4 days then? 4 days a week with a P90X type workout is going to be very beneficial to people even with some more resistance built in. Flexibility and stamina is always good to inject into your routine.

The biggest thing it did for me was giving me a structure to build off of. Even thought I don't follow the tapes very often anymore, I do follow the program's template and use a lot of the moves.

This is what I do. My gym does group conditioning which i do about 4 days a week and then I go a weight training day and a flexibility/knee rehab day. My resistance days are closely associated with the P90X weight training routines slightly modified.

Beachbody admits that 3 times a week for an hour a day is enough to keep you in pretty tremendous shape.

I dont have children so obviously I dont have the same issues at Y2, but I travel alot so I have been trying to take an hour's worth of TV out every day for to increase exercise. Its been extremely helpful. Now only if I could find out the secret to doing it in the morning.

I'm terrible about exercising on the road. I always tell myself I'm going to run for a while, but it rarely happens.

Its incredibly hard. Like I said before I try to stay in hotels where I know the gym is legit and I usually go to the same major cities so its easy to pop into a grand hyatt in denver which has a huge weight room. The whole running thing doesnt work for me since I still cant run with my knees especially after my training this winter.

I'm typically out in the middle of nowhere, but they usually have a treadmill and some dumb bells. But by the time I get back from working at a site all day and eat dinner, it's probably 8PM or later and I've got to get up at 5AM.

Yeah, I've done that, impossible to work out and also to eat healthy. Thats a very hard life on your health mentally and physically. Do you fly or drive? My old boss used to take his bike with him to sites and ride early or late, it was crazy but kind of smart.

Oh it's typically fly somewhere and then drive up to 4 hours! I travel around to various nuclear plants so, aside from some exceptions, they're usually far away from any mid-sized or larger airport. Those travel days kill routines, too.

Oh yeah, you are f***ed there. The only thing you can do is try and eat healthy on the road which as we know is next to impossible when you are at applebees or bob evans or whatever s*** hole place they have out there.

Ok, here is my overall "goal".

Keep in mind that I was "laid off" from working out for well over a year while healing from a medical condition. So during that time, I put on about 10 lbs of fat. Ideally, I weight about 154lbs or so...right now I'm at about 162. I'm 5'7". My goal is to regain the muscle mass I lost and slowly shed that excess fat, which will happen in time.

So in all, I've been back to working out for the last 1.5 months or so. I did miss a week during a trip to Vegas during that time, too.

What I try to do, so long as nothing prevents me from doing it, such as family or my kid, is go to the gym on the 3 days I actually go into the office. Since my work has a gym on campus, I use that, it's 5$ a week. So on those 3 days, I weight train.

The other two days I work from home, and I have a treadmill in my house, so I run 1.5 to 2 miles on those 2 days, or on one of the weekend days if possible. If I feel extra ambitious, I'll do Plyo or Cardio X, instead of running. Ideally I'd like to do this 2 times, I often find myself only doing it once for one reason or another.

Ideally, I'd be working out 5 days a week, but something usually comes up which prevents that, and I end up missing a day at the gym because work is extra busy, or a day at home for various family reasons...so in all, I'd say I average out at 3 or 4 days a week, but lately it's only been 3. I do plan on restarting the cardio portion of my workouts this week...so that will bring me back up to 4 or 5.

My current progress: (sorry the image is somewhat fuzzy, but trying to take a pic of yourself in the gym is a douche move, even though I'm trying to document my progress), if I could drop some of that extra body fat, I'd be in great shape again...I wish I had taken a photo similar to this when I first started again, but until Reddy posted his, I hadn't really thought about it, but I guess it's a good idea so you can compare progress.

metoo.jpg

So as you can see, while a workout style like mine won't get you as lean as something like P90X, it can still tone you somewhat...but obviously you wouldn't get results like Reddy posted with bodyfat percentages in the single digits.

Speaking of workout advice, does anyone know of any good and easy to perform calf stretching stretches? My left calf is a lot tighter than my right, and it's kind of always been that way, wondering if anyone knew a safe way to stretch that out aside from the usual lean forward against a wall stretch... :/

exactly. it will KEEP you in shape if you're already there, but to GET in shape you need to do more than 3 days a week.
