StrangeSox
Tradition is a s***ty reason to argue for anything. Basically it's just another form of the is/ought problem and a logical fallacy. Edited February 18, 2011 by StrangeSox

Iwritecode
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 05:17 PM) I guess if he really wanted to let it go his statement would have been something like: "My wife and I love dogs, some times our love may cloud our judgment. Regardless of our personal feelings about the subject, we would never wish injury on another person." I think most people would accept that he let his feelings cloud his judgment. But just admit to it. Then he'd be a liar. It wasn't the most PC thing in the world for him to say it but he said what he said and meant what he said. That's it and now it's time to focus on baseball.

TaylorStSox
One could make the argument that in the south, as well as Vick's circle, dog fighting is an accepted practice, the same as hunting. Also, culling dogs that don't fit the breeders standard happens in all breeds, from sled dogs to show dogs to hound dogs to protection dogs to herding dogs. However, dog fighting is illegal. I wonder if MB would shoot a lion if given the chance, despite it's illegality?

chetkincaid
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Feb 19, 2011 -> 09:44 AM) I don't think you know what dog fighting really entails. I do. And it's no worse than shooting a small bear or any other animal with a bow and arrow and tracking it while it dies a slow agonizing death, then cutting it's head off to mount on your wall. TaylorStSox
QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Feb 19, 2011 -> 09:44 AM) I don't think you know what dog fighting really entails. Actually, I do. I've been an American Pit Bull Terrier owner for years. I've done a ton of research on the breed.
ScottyDo
??? I'm sorry, I must have forgotten about all the deliberate torture and bait animals endemic to hunting. I'm far from a hunter (I've never been and I'll never go) but the two are in different stratospheres of suffering.
