JPN366
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 08:18 AM) To go with the thread in PHT, provide here any and all predictions you have about minor league teams and/or players in the Sox system for 2011... I'm gonna say that the success that the players for Winston-Salem had last year will not translate to success in Birmingham this year. Based on all the AAAA types that are being signed up for Charlotte, don't see them doing too well. I think Kannapolis and Winston-Salem will be mediocre. Balta1701
I think the Sox's system will look a lot better mid-season than it does right now...just because we can't possibly be this injury-hit 2 years in a row.
NorthSideSox72
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 12:53 PM) I think the Sox's system will look a lot better mid-season than it does right now...just because we can't possibly be this injury-hit 2 years in a row. My exact thought - we lost basically the entire top of the 2009 draft to injuries, plus a few other Top 25 or at least Top 50 guys (for the Sox) to injury. I think the two teams to follow, that will be the most fun, are B-Ham and Kanny. I think the B-Ham pitching staff will do quite well. ChiliIrishHammock24
Phillip Humber will dominate in AAA, and Andy Wilkins will catapult himself into everyone's prospect list. Eduardo Escobar will do well enough to get traded.
danman31
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 04:15 PM) Phillip Humber will dominate in AAA, and Andy Wilkins will catapult himself into everyone's prospect list. Eduardo Escobar will do well enough to get traded. I can agree with that, but I think Escobar has enough value to simply be average this year and still get traded. ChiliIrishHammock24
QUOTE (danman31 @ Feb 16, 2011 -> 10:59 PM) I can agree with that, but I think Escobar has enough value to simply be average this year and still get traded. The fact that so many people are talking him up makes me think it's more likely Kenny will use this bloated value to try and get bloated return on him. Without getting into "the debate", I think he did the same thing with Hudson, and probably Jeremy Reed before him.

I was agreeing with you, but was basically saying I don't think what you said about Escobar was bold. I'd say that's fairly likely.

Probably, especially with Alexei and Beckham locked in for the next 4 years.

NorthSideSox72
Jeff Marquez will put together a nice year in Charlotte as a starter, finally looking like what KW thought he was getting.
bighurt4life
Im looking at Michael Blanke and Andy Wilkins to have big seasons. I also think that Jose Martinez finally puts together a healthy year. My surprise pick this year is for Jon Gilmore to start growing into his body and hitting with power.
bigruss
Flowers will return in a big way. We have a few prospects such as Reed and Thompson make big steps.
danman31
I'm also expecting big things out of Trayce. I think Wilkins doing well wouldn't be a shock. I think all of our catching prospects will have bad years (with Blanke probably being simply average).
chisoxfan09
NSS72/JPN, what are your thoughts from Carter´s performance in AA and his peripherals/talent going forward. Does he have the stuff for long relief, set up man, or closer? His ERA was a tad high at Birmingham last year but it seems he finally started to find his niche. He seems to have a better future as reliever rather than closer.

He seems to have a better future as reliever rather than closer. As a starter/longman last year, I wasn't really impressed with his work when I saw him. Supposedly he's able to bring a lot better fastball to the table when he comes in for short relief, up into the mid 90's range, which suggests he's setup man/closer material. Quin
The White Sox farm system will have the best collective record amongst all farm systems. Mitchell and Danks get call ups in September.
