southsider2k5
QUOTE (Reddy @ May 26, 2011 -> 05:42 PM) answer me this: fair catch in football. what's the difference here? there should be a rule against blocking the plate. might suck when you lose a game like that, but it could save careers, and that's more important in the long run. You don't have to block the plate. If you aren't blocking the plate, you don't get steamrolled, so you can be protected.
OilCan
Interesting blog about Buster Posey's injury and how long his rehab might take. Maybe ready in time for the playoffs, if the Giants make it?? http://www.sbnation.com/2011/5/27/2192419/...-giants-surgery

It's hard to make a correlation between two sports. The catcher can just not block the plate. Making a rule to prevent it would be overkill. witesoxfan
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 31, 2011 -> 02:56 PM) epically bad division + good young talent + hot streak A lot of that is the same good young talent they've had for 5 years. It's not as young anymore. They have a pitching staff this year. That's one of the main reasons.
Rowand44
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 31, 2011 -> 03:13 PM) A lot of that is the same good young talent they've had for 5 years. It's not as young anymore. They have a pitching staff this year. That's one of the main reasons. Their stats are so unimpressive though, up and down that roster. That's why I asked the question, I know they have the talent but when you look at the collective statistical output by that team, it's kind of hard to figure out how they're in 1st place. Chisoxfn
Bad division? NL West has the Giants and Rockies, two of the more talented (on paper) teams in baseball. And one of them, albiet they road a hot streak there, won the world series last year.

Alexei isn't even on the top 5 list for SS. That's tragic. The best SS in the AL is getting beat by the likes of Erick Aybar and Yunel Escobar. Not to mention Derek Jeter. You haven't been paying much attention to the injuries of the Giants and to the awful performances of most of the Rockies, eh? No, I know the Giants are injured but the Rockies are very talented and while in the midst of a slump they are notorious slow starters and I would not call them a bad team. LittleHurt05
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 2, 2011 -> 07:23 PM) Buster Posey refused to accept Cousins' apology? f*** you, Buster. How about Brian Sabean's comments. He basically said he hopes Cousins never plays another MLB game. If that had been Eli Whiteside blocking the plate, Sabean wouldn't even think twice. If it had been the Marlins catcher blocking the plate, and Posey was trying to score, he would have done the same thing.
