Kenny Hates Prospects Posted February 28, 2011 Share Posted February 28, 2011 Just watched a clip on MLB.com where Ozzie pronounced Morel as "Mole." If Beckham = Bacon then does Morel = Mole? No offense Joe. Um...well....I never had a competing nickname for Alexei or Gordon, so he won that by default. He was awfully lazy with Viciedo's nickname, and The Mole for Morel is pretty bad. Sooo, in my opinion, Viciedo's is the only one where we both had good nicknames, but again, his was awfully lazy. Also, I'm not convinced that the person who has said each nickname hasn't had an impact on how people perceive it. A mole is a pest that lives in the dirt and "steals" from a gardener or farmer. And farmers/gardeners show their respect for moles by swearing at them and trying to kill them, but still the mole persists - see that Married With Children episode where Al Bundy goes apes*** trying to kill one in his back yard (I think it was a mole). This to me sounds a lot like what Brent Morel will be to the AL Central. Not really a star or anything where other teams have to admit the guy is a good player, just the scrappy kind of scavenger that robs the opposition late in games and comes up with big hits despite average overall offensive numbers. Well, then you are giving him a ceiling of just a scrappy player that is not really feared much or gameplanned around.... but DOOOOOM SHRRROOOOOOOOOM! That's intimidating.
