Balta1701
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 27, 2011 -> 11:54 PM) Tony Pena is the worst reliever since Rojo Johnson. And atleast Rojo had some personality. Randy Williams is angry that you've forgotten him.
greg775
QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 28, 2011 -> 04:54 AM) Tony Pena is the worst reliever since Rojo Johnson. And atleast Rojo had some personality. Pena has given up at least a run in 6 of his last 10 appearances. His ERA is over 6. Going by production per salary, is he the worst pitcher in White Sox history? I know Sox have had some horrific pitchers, but most are just low paid guys. I guess one could argue Linebrink vs. Pena as worst ever, taking salary into consideration? Quin
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 27, 2011 -> 10:59 PM) Randy Williams is angry that you've forgotten him. Randy Williams could do nothing but fail, Pena actually has some talent.
greg775
Pena has talent? He's awful basically every other outing. And he's been that way a while. I get the feeling he'd suck even in the minor leagues. Some guys just can't get people out. He's one of them.

I guess one could argue Linebrink vs. Pena as worst ever, taking salary into consideration? Keep in mind, Pena is "only" making $1.6 million this year, so he'd have to be 3-4 times as bad as Linebrink salary wise.

I get the feeling he'd suck even in the minor leagues. Some guys just can't get people out. He's one of them. In 2006 he was first switched to being a reliever, and between AA and AAA he put up a 0.90 WHIP and a 1.30 ERA in 46 innings. He might have lost something since then. Since 2007, when he was actually good, his WHIP has gone up every year.

First year arbitration. If he suddenly turns his season around and the Sox offer him Arbitration next year, that number would go up to probably $2.5 mil+ or so, then it'd start getting annoying. flavum
54 games in the books. 1/3 of the season. Team ERA: 3.92 31 quality starts. And they are on pace for 90 losses. That's bad offense, bad bullpen early, and bad managing.
Jordan4life_2007
Indians just dropped a 4-spot on Tampa. Up 7-2 after 8. They apparently don't seem to understand they're supposed to fall apart soon, while we go on another 25-5 run. Happens every year.
Jordan4life_2007
Wow! Horrible baserunning by Sean Rodriguez. Why would you try to score there where even if you did you're still down 3 with Zobrist coming up and representing the tying run? The Sox aren't the only team that goes baseball stupid. greg775
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ May 28, 2011 -> 10:50 PM) Indians just dropped a 4-spot on Tampa. Up 7-2 after 8. They apparently don't seem to understand they're supposed to fall apart soon, while we go on another 25-5 run. Happens every year. It's hard to believe some fans think we are still in the race. Our only hope is the wild card and that's always difficult to achieve with Tampa, Yanks, Boston. Soon the firesale will begin. We don't have what it takes. It's happened once since, what, 2000? The WC winner is property to the AL east. Like I said, I think the Indians are good. How good? Need a little more time to gauge that.
