It was never quiet. KW made a bigger offer than Hendry did, that was no secret. Fukudome just was lured away by the dreaminess of Cubdom

Which begs the question... Biggest disaster in CF for the Sox.

Torii Hunter, Koske Fukodome, or Alex Rios?

Don't forget Rowand.

It's just so unfortunate we didn't get Miggy Cabrera when we had a chance, personality/off-field warts and all.

Do you really think we had a chance? I'm sure we had talks with Florida but the package was pretty lackluster. Detroits centerpiece was Andrew Miller right?

Florida totally bombed that trade. They got nothing out of Maybin and Miller.

The offer the Sox had out there would have been a much better return (wasn't Floyd or Danks in that offer?)

What would that trade accomplish?

OBP and a little pop at the top of the order. It'd be a nice offensive upgrade though Fukudome isn't much with the glove his arm would still be an upgrade.

The kicker was the Marlins were able to dump Dontrelle Willis on Detroit. The White Sox wouldn't take him. It saved Loria a ton of money.

DA, ironically we already have our own MC Lite in Dayan Viciedo who I think will blossom quite well at the Cell. I just made a poll for fun about him. Hope you cast a vote. :lolhitting

Not sure I'd describe Viciedo as "lite".

Why is Rowand a disaster in CF?

Quentin made the ASG but not konerko?

I'm not outraged by this at all - it's just a numbers game. Clearly, Konerko deserved to be on the roster, but there's 4 other 1B off the top of my head with damn good numbers. Somebody had to go, and it isn't going to be fair.

‘‘I might lose some respect from the players,’’ Guillen said on benching Pierre. ‘‘People believe in Juan; they know he’s our leader. I’m not afraid to bench a guy that’s not producing, as long as I have something else better or equal. But I think he plays the game right. He works. A lot of people look up to him. Our players love him.

Hopefully the Sox exceed and the Indians and Tigers fall below, but this is kind of a realistic breakdown of the remaining opponents for each team.

Totally realistic. The Sox have been playing just below that clip for weeks now with guys far underperforming on offense.

Can anyone name a young player groomed by Greg Walker that has developed a patient approach at the plate?

Krispie Young is all I can come up with and I honestly don't know how much time with "Walk" he had.

Who are you talking about? Chris Young? He was only a prospect when he was traded to AZ, and last I checked, his patience at the plate leaves a lot to be desired

Replace Dunn and Rios with Viciedo and De Aza and it's a done deal.

Great post. This isn't grade school ball where everybody gets to play. Why don't the Sox replace the dead weight? There's so much to gain with this pitching staff.

We won't win squat with Rios and Dunn in the lineup. We just won't.

And Becks needs to hit and Alexei needs a big second half as well.

Two simple moves and we have a chance to win the division. Once again we are wasting some nasty pitching.

Paul Konerko waves from his 16,000 sq ft house in Scottsdale.

beat me to it.

i've said before, my only real beef with walker is he doesn't seem to get our hitters prepared for pitchers they've never faced.

it isn't a one or two player thing, it's our entire lineup, regardless of the new players brought in. this happens year in, year out, and has been the Sox MO since Walker got here
