hogan873
We're thinking of a family vacation in the Dells this summer. I've never been there, and I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for the better places to stay up there. Looking for a water park resort that would be good for a family with 3 kids between ages 6 and 9. Thanks!
Swingandalongonetoleft
Off the top of my head- http://www.greatwolf.com/dells/waterpark I was going to suggest Mt. Olympus for the coasters and go karts but then I noticed your kids are 6 and 9, so they might not have as much to do. You can trip and fall on (good) mini-golf in the Dells though. If you don't want to stay at Great Wolf, find a cheaper place and go to Noah's Ark (waterpark). LittleHurt05
You mean Polish Las Vegas??? Kalahari is a huge resort and has all kinds of water parks, arcades, theme park stuff that I'm sure will keep the kids busy. http://www.kalahariresorts.com/wi/ Noah's Ark is the biggest waterpark there, it's right on the strip in town. I've stayed at the Kalahari, it's REALLY expensive (luckily my in-laws payed), but a great resort. I absolutely LOVE Noah's Ark. I would go every time I am up there if my wife liked water parks... southsider2k5
I know that a lot of the Dells got destroyed by the flood a couple years back, is that pretty much repaired and back to normal now?

Yes The Kalahari (sp?) is bigger and one place but he Wilderness is more spread out and seems less crowded both are better than the rest. The Great Wolf is nice but it is smaller. We stay at he Wilderness and never leave. The cabins are awesome. Price is a major tipping point. I was up there a couple years ago when the lake was empty. It was weird to see people walking around in the middle of what used to be a lake. hogan873
Thanks for the feedback. I'm torn between staying at one of the big waterparks and staying at a hotel that offers discounted or free tickets to Noah's Ark or Chula Vista or Mt Olympus. I could save money by staying at a basic hotel, but then I lose the convienence of being able to just run down to the waterpark for an hour or so at night. Has anyone stayed at any of the big waterparks? How was the cleanliness?

They just added more stuff in the last few years and there is an entire indoor area that has a bunch of rides for the younger aged kids. Plus all the go-carts are 2-seaters so you can bring the kids with you. I can't say how the hotel part is because we usually bring our pop-up trailer with us and stay at one of the nearby campgrounds for the weekend. The last time we were there we paid for an all-day pass on Saturday and got a pass for the next day for free.

The bigger wateparks are as clean as they can considering that ther are kids involved and parents trying to make the most out of their vacation. The benefit of the larger waterparks is that you have the convenience of being close to a room and getting things as you need them (dry clothes, a breief break, food, drinks). When I was your kids age, that was pretty much my favorite place in the world, they'll have a blast. The hotel waterparks are certainly nice but they don't compare to Noah's Ark. I've heard that from several people, and I definitely plan on spending a day there.
