JPN366
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 19, 2011 -> 12:50 PM) Brandon Allen, for whatever reason, hasn't been given much of a chance yet. He's torpedoed AAA the last year and a half. Nothing for him to prove there. He's #2 on the depth chart behind Juan Miranda. Which is pretty silly to me. But I would imagine BA will get a chance to really prove himself this year. Helps a lot that he's athletic enough to play the OF. I admit, I defended the trade when it happened. But looking back, it really was an awful move. An athletic 22-23 year old left-handed power bat with the ability to play multiple positions is a far more valuable commodity than the Tony Pena's of the world. Every team in baseball has a Tony Pena stashed away somewhere. He also has good speed for his size as well.
bobryansson
I am at Sox at A's. Milledge just hit routine fly to right, absolutely sprinted to first, 2/3 to second when caught. The kid WANTS a roster spot.

southsider2k5
QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Mar 19, 2011 -> 11:20 AM) That really makes the Brandon Allen trade look a lot worse. The Diamondbacks had him play a few games at left field if I'm not mistaken. The D-backs don't believe in him enough to give him the 1B job. That pretty much sums up the expectations for Allen. Allen is AAA fodder and the Sox let him go and got value for him at he right time. Allen is about 5th on the depth chart and a year a way from being nothing. Pena isn't a stud, but he is worth more than Brandon Allen.

I really didn't think the deal was that bad to begin with and am not a huge fan of Brandon Allen, but being realistic here, Brandon Allen is simply not AAA fodder at this point in his career. He's still got plenty of time to make it onto a major league roster.
hammerhead johnson
His fashion acumen is still unforgivable. And he hangs with retards. It's permissible to have a stupid friend, but if they're completely retarded, that can't be good. And in response to a previous post, Lastings got expelled from school for having sex with a minor during his junior year. He was 16 years old for the vast majority of that school year (up until the beginning of April), so it kinda sounds like a raw deal. This was in Florida, of all states. The board members that decided to kick him out probably have sex with their first cousins.

I can't really pinpoint why Arizona hasn't given him a chance yet. Then again, they've traded Max Scherzer and Dan Haren for pretty mediocre returns. And I don't know where you get that 4 guys are ahead of him on their depth chart. He's second only to Juan Miranda at 1B. And they've got the great Xavier Nady in LF, another position Allen could potentially play. If you think the Sox 'won' that trade I would hate to see your definition of lost trade. Pena sucks. I'm insulted by this accusation. Even though you're right. Lol. Well at least give me the Dunn signing. And I've lauded Ozzie for naming Thornton/Morel the closer and 3B. But, yeah, let us get off to another 2010-ish like start and my wrath will be epic. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Mar 20, 2011 -> 10:51 AM) We may not always agree, but we do now. That probably said more than anything else that could be said. I get that. The question is why? Just pretend you're a D-backs fan for a second. You've got a 24-year old that's obliterated AAA the last year+. He's a good athlete and versatile. His BB rate sky-rocketed. Nady and Miranda, well, they suck. There's no logic here. I think it is pretty clear. The Sox were willing to trade him for a middle reliever/set up man. The Diamondbacks have put crap in front of him. Its obvious to me that both organizations felt Allen isn't that good, for whatever reason.
