•The Reds acquired right-hander Kyle McCulloch from the White Sox for cash considerations, according to Matt Eddy of Baseball America (on Twitter). The 2006 first rounder spent last year in the upper minors, where he posted a 5.77 ERA with 3.7 K/9 and 2.6 BB/9 as a swingman.

I remember following this draft and being so pissed that Daniel Bard got taken the pick before us. I wanted nothing to do with this guy from the start.

That's actually how most people on this board felt. Everyone at that time wanted Bard when he kept falling closer and closer to the Sox.

We wouldn't have taken him anyway. But Thornton+Bard wouldn't even be allowed by XBOX. That would be too devastatingly filthy and unfair.

I think I remember that. I've made some pretty horrific predictions as well. But NOTHING will ever top Kalapse's Wilson Betemit prediction.

What'd I say about Betemit?

I know I liked Luis Terrero WAY more than I should have. I can't even imagine how many ridiculous things I've said over the years and subsequently forgotten.

Basically that he was an underrated acquisition and that he'd be a player. I don't blame you for forgetting. I'd block that out as well.

I do remember claiming that he'd be serviceable in the field at short. Not my finest moment.

Sweet, I believe McCullough was the last "bad" 1st round draft pick that was still in the White Sox minor league system.

Let's start anew with Beckham, Mitchell, and Sale. :)

Poreda is making his own case to replace him...

Honestly, I think a lot of people thought Wilson Betemit was going to be solid. Pretty sure I did as well.

Of course it just so happened that last year he did hit like most of us thought he would, he just did so with Kansas City.

Betemit was solid...last year...at the plate.
