Former Tennessee men's basketball coach Bruce Pearl will receive a multiple-year show-cause penalty from the NCAA's committee on infractions, multiple sources with knowledge of the NCAA's report told ESPN.com Tuesday.

Pearl's three former assistants -- Tony Jones, Steve Forbes and Jason Shay -- will receive one-year show-cause penalties, the sources said.

The NCAA had called to alert the respective parties that the report would be coming out Wednesday.

A show-cause penalty means a school wanting to hire a coach serving that penalty must appear before the NCAA committee on infractions to explain why it wants to do so.

If the school chooses to go ahead with the hire, it would have to agree to any possible additional penalties the committee might want to levy.

Interesting for Forbes, it had sounded like he could have had a shot at a few jobs the last few years - now he's screwed.

Forbes is the Head Coach at a JUCO in Florida right now... Not the way he probably envisioned his career this time last year.

As for Pat Summitt, Vol Nation is definitely hurting right now. I never followed our women's basketball team, but I've always had a ton of respect for Pat. Amazing coach, amazing person. It's going to be really tough the next few years.

Andre Drummond to join UConn for 2011 season. They are just about at the level of UNC and Kentucky now. Their frontline is nasty.

Saw that last night. Ecstatic. In my mind they are now a better team than last year. I'd keep UNC at pre-season #1 but I'd vault UCONN over UK. Even more excited for the college basketball season to get under way again now

I'm not sure. He's a really damn good player but he's not super explosive athletically.

You're joking, right? He is constantly all over the floor and playing above the rim.

Yeah but I want them to get a top 3 guy, and then a few others. It would be awesome for DePaul to be good.

I agree. As a proud (ha) DePaul Law grad, I can get cheap ass tickets to some quality games. Not really fun though when they are the worst team in a 16 team conference.

It would be nice for a team in downtown chicago to be very good, especially with hometown talent. I would take the el up there to watch some games for sure. If they were at all seriously competitive it could be a wrigleyville type atmosphere around there.

WTF are you talking about? Parker is one of the most athletic guys out there and is the best prospect in ANY class right now from 2012-2014. You must be getting him confused with Sara Jessica Parker or something.
