witesoxfan
QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 12:54 AM) He's still valuable because of his ability to play so many positions well. But he's definitely not the hitter he was back in 09. He still has great plate discipline, but the power's disappeared. Zobrist is a pretty good example that players can simply just get hot and hit for a bit of power for a relatively short period of time. He's pretty much a 10-15 homer player, good value due to versatility and patience at the plate, but he's not as crazy good as he was in 2009. It's too early to say anything about the Rays, but there are a lot of things that can go really, really wrong with that team, and that has been shown thus far. The organization is and has been doing a lot of things right, but this year was going to be a hard one for them no matter what with how much they lost over the offseason. The good news is that, if this keeps up (and realistically, it could), they have so many guys signed to one year deals that they can deal them at the deadline or get compensation for them in the offseason. And their minor league depth is still great.
