Steve9347
Watching mlb.tv... NESN just broke in and said Manny Ramirez has retired.
Marty34
Per MLB network "issue with drug testing policy", Ramirez decided to retire.
Steve9347
Supposedly he got dinged by MLB's drug program again... steroids. And retired. According to NESN of course.

Steve9347
Sorry, I posted this in the other thread because it's not White Sox news... you can delete or merge my thread.
dpd9189
That's a total Manny way to go out. His career with us was about as memorable as Paul Coffey's Blackhawks tenure.
ChiliIrishHammock24
So if he decides to come back like next year or in 2 years, he would still have to serve his 100 game suspension, right?
southsider2k5
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 03:25 PM) Per MLB network "issue with drug testing policy", Ramirez decided to retire. Figures. Dude was a fraud. Too bad, because he was one of the best hitters I have ever seen.
clyons
Just saw this too in the online Trib: http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/break...0,7526294.story
Kalapse
What a f***ing loser. Talk about destroying a legacy at the very tail end of a career.
WCSox
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 01:30 PM) Figures. Dude was a fraud. Too bad, because he was one of the best hitters I have ever seen. +1 I remember him hitting a ball onto the Mass Turnpike a few years ago. That got me wondering. dpd9189
Oh yeah, in his prime I don't think I've ever seen a better hitter. The BoSox were just plain fun to watch in the "Idiot" days. That team could rake like no other.
LittleHurt05
Bummer, I was hoping to see him bat at the Cell this weekend. Still one of the best and most feared hitters I ever saw. Looks like his career ends with him "being Manny" with all these stupid drug issues.
WilliamTell
Man I'm getting old. I remember him coming up in the big leagues. Great career, but too bad for him steroids could easily cloud it even though he has an outstanding hitter.

All that needs to be said. JR should get his 4 million back!
chetkincaid
I wonder if he gets in the hall of fame after he's dead and gone? I bet Palmiero does. I have a feeling all of the steroid users will, they just won't live to see it.

I have a feeling all of the steroid users will, they just won't live to see it. I don't think that either of them do. And it's a shame, because both probably would've been HOF material without the PEDs. Of the known PED guys, my guess is that Bonds is the only one who definitely makes it in. His saving grace will be the 3 MVPs, 400 HRs, and 400 SBs he had before he began juicing in the late '90s.
