Felix
QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 09:26 PM) Adam Dunn just told you that you are a f***ing joke Felix. Also, I'll note yet another personal attack against me. I guess the rules only go one way... Edited April 16, 2011 by Felix
Dick Allen
QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 07:44 PM) I mean, I know it's still early, but this is the type of production we're getting out of the DH spot? Sure it's better than Mark Kotsay, but that's not saying much. We simply aren't going to win with this guy getting significant at-bats. Yeah, he'll hit some dingers, but his speed and inability to put the bat on the ball is going to do more damage than good. How are we supposed to score runs with him clogging the bases and striking out with runners on? That just isn't going to do our team any good. I'll admit, I was excited when we first signed him. I thought, "Hell yeah! Another Paul Konerko!" But it's clear that Dunn is just a National League player who can't lead his team to any success. Ever wonder why he hasn't played in the playoffs? He clearly doesn't have what it takes to bring his team over the hump. I know this isn't something people want to hear right now, but the sooner we admit the truth, the better the team will be in the future. pwned
Kalapse
QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 09:28 PM) So what, we've learned he can hit a batting practice pitch from a joke of a pitcher? What's the big deal? Hate to break it to you but his OPS is now .926. Big blow. And lets ALL quit it with the personal attacks, no need for this discussion to get nasty. I'm talking to you specifically, ws99.

Why would anyone care about that? What's his batting average now?
Kalapse
QUOTE (qwerty @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 09:26 PM) What is the first stat always shown from left to right? Now when i say this i mean since the beginning of history... can this be denied? Someone needs to bone up on their history. Since clearly average is by far the most important... all those other fancy stats can... and should... be thrown out the window. Um, his average is .010 points below his career number, where were you 2 months ago? Were you complaining about his lack of batting average? If not I think it's time to slink away, little man. supernuke
QUOTE (Felix @ Apr 15, 2011 -> 09:13 PM) Yes, let's cherrypick stats that make him look good. 1 HR in 7 games (tonight's counts). Hrmmmmmmmmmm.. that's on pace for.. let's do the math here.. carry the one..... 23 this season. HE CAN'T HIT AL PITCHING. Now on pace for 46, if he hits one tomorow he will be on pace fo 60. Go Dunn!!

Its very apparent you are trying to get posters to personally attack you. Hopefully the correct people will see this attempt at trying to make an ugly thread and properly take care of it. Yeah, right around his career norm. Once again, I pose the question to you: were you saying these same things when he was signed?

What's the big deal? Ya Weaver only leads the league in Ks, and had a 3.01 Era last yr (let alone 0.87 Era and a 15 K performance against a good hitting Blue jays club) I ask you does that define a joke of a pitcher. I have never commented on dunn since he was acquired...you would know him better as the free swinging lumber jack that can't fight through a simple surgery. fathom
I feel like Dunn is Sosa-esque. When he has the chance to put us up, he strikes out. When he's not the tying run, he has no problem delivering.

When he's not the tying run, he has no problem delivering. You know who else this reminds me of? Jim Thome. Sure he'll hit a bunch of dingers and gets his numbers, but when it comes down to it, he's not the guy you want with the bat in his hand and runners in scoring position at the end of the game. Felix
Fact of the matter is that Dunn is just another lift and pull player. He'll get lucky on some dingers, but more often than not he'll be walking back to the dugout with his head down. A specialty of the Walker era as hitting coach. I mean, really? His OBP is over .500? Anything under .500 means that you are getting out more often than you're getting on-base. So no, more often than not, he'll be out. Actually, more often than not almost all hitters will be walking back to the dugout with their head down. Not to many guys have OBPs over .500. I simply pointed out a statistical fact that Dunn will be out more often than he will be safe, and then I was told I was wrong. That's simply not the case.
