fathom
QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 01:52 AM) Yeah, Beckham never adjusted to the league and has continued to suck. Oh wait. In Walkers ChiSox career, they just have not had good young hitters come through the system (Beckham really is the first). Hitting coaches don't really matter. That's why b****ing about the current one is pointless exercise. Who knows if this is true. Fields had a dynamite rookie year with regards to power, and then the next year, looked like he'd never seen a fastball in his life.
greg775
QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Apr 21, 2011 -> 12:48 AM) Who do you want fired and how would it help the Sox? You think if Ryne Sanberg was standing in the spot Ozzie is standing right now, Rios, Beckham, Dunn and Pierre would start hitting? Do you think if Rick Hahn took over for Kenny Williams, Matt Thornton would become a top notch closer and Jake Peavy's arm/back/shoulder/adnoids would heal and he'd be able to pitch tomorrow and be an ace? Who should be fired because of Alexei working the count and hitting a weak pop up? You know what, I normally would be the one to post something like you just posted. But this is just unacceptable. I guess it has to be Ozzie who should get the boot after today's game. He's the easiest one to can and make a statement to these rich players who are playing like s***. We're not even in these games. If not, I'd settle for Ozzie completely going ballistic in the locker room; throwing over the food table, calling out the veterans. Something. Or Jerry Reinsdorf publicly ripping into the team. How the hell is this happening with our payroll? Seven in a row??

And this is another reason why b****ing about hitting coaches is stupid. Fans don't know or see the work they do. Hell it's very possible he's telling hitters everything he possibly can and they just don't want to listen.

I hate the argument that hitting coaches don't matter. If that's true, then f***ing fire them all and hire Brooklyn Decker to be the hitting coach. Real
i don't think it's a particular coaching problem for the way this team plays at the start of every season and the end of every season i'm starting to think it's the personnel surrounding the players and the atmosphere they provide in the clubhouse, on the plane, at the hotels, and in the dugout it sort of makes sense, given we have different players and yet they all play eerily similar to every team we field year in/year out like there's never a season-long sense of urgency, even a mild one, letting the players know they need to play hard every day, not just when you're finally in first place so yeah, i'm game for scrapping the entire coaching staff, including cora and walker and guillen, and bringing in someone else with credentials if there's one available, and letting them fill out the staff the way they want and rolling the dice with that same s*** different year: you could say this every april through may 31st for this ball club, time for a change for change's sake Edited April 21, 2011 by Real

I mean I'm usually the most patient fan and I'm furious. The guy spending the money to see Adam Dunn suck and everybody else suck has to be LIVID. Make Jerry talk. His team is putrid. greg775
I never thought we'd be this putrid offensively after scoring all those runs up to the point we were two over .500. I would maybe buy it if this team was full of rookies but they're not. If it worked everyone would do it all the time. It doesn't. It does if the manager/coaching staff allows a lacadaisical attitude by it's players and lack of effort, basically laziness and no real drive to be competitive this is what coaches are ultimately used for in every damn sport, to coach the players, put them in the state of mind to succeed and be positive. i'm starting to believe this coaching staff doesn't bring this mentality to Sox players
