Finals Week

It's back.

This is my last finals weeks ever. Easy broadcasting final on Tuesday night, then marketing and broadcast seminar finals on Wednesday. I also have a resume demo tape to turn in Tuesday for another broadcasting class.

Had a final project yesterday for a different broadcasting class which was a full 10 minutes newscast I produced, wrote, shot, edited, and anchored and I killed it.

Finals are two weeks from now.

1 Strategic MGMT paper on Groupon (15 pages), a Theology paper and final, a Finance exam, an international management project and exam and I have to finish reading Ayn Rand's "The Fountainhead."

Then I graduate and take two three-week summer courses to be done with my bachelor's degree. Taking the new general GRE that qualifies me for business and letters graduate schools.

yeah, my finals are 2 weeks from now. I have 1 wednesday, 1 thursday, 1 friday. This is the hardest semester of my life. Soooo many projects and papers to write (although all of them very short).

Being a T-Comm major sucks when it comes to all the projects involved.

And I might fail my first class ever. Political Science. I have a 55%. Final is worth 50% of our grade, so it's really all hinges on that. But still, if this class brings my GPA below 3.0, I am going to riot.

Had 2 finals today. First was just to turn in a resume tape to my professor and have him critique it. He gave me a 9.2 out of 10 and told me that I'm going to make it as a broadcaster and that I get it. That was nice to hear from a 10 year CNN correspondent.

Then had another broadcasting exam at 2. 80 questions, multiple choice, T/F and a couple matching. Finished it in about 9 minutes and aced it.

Now I have to study for a Marketing Research exam (tomorrow at 2) as well as a Broadcast Seminar exam (tomorrow at 6) after watching the Hawks lose game 7 in OT. May or may not mail it in.

Our exams start next week.

A comparatively easy 7 page paper comparing Lincoln's and Madison's views on the shortcomings of American government due Friday for my American Political Thought class.

A 10 page research paper comparing and establishing Annie Hall's influence on the romantic comedy and specifically embodied through (500) Days of Summer due Monday for my Film Analysis class.

A final exam for my humanities class, The Search for Values in Light of Western History and Religion, on Tuesday.

Final exam for my Modern Political Ideologies class also on Tuesday.

Then home for two weeks before coming back to Memphis to begin my internship at WMC-TV 5 and helping our Math/CS/Sociology departments' summer research project, which I'll post about at a later time because it concerns MLB and may be newsmaking if things go as we hypothesize.

Have to prepare for all of this while I'm giving 3+ hours per day to college baseball. This is why I wish I could play college sports some other time in my life. For instance, after college.

Just out of curiosity, do you think Marketing Research gives individuals skills to use in the real world (as in Marketing Research jobs)? Often times I wondered if I should have studied Marketing instead of Management and wanted to know what you thought of the course.

This has been the most difficult semester of my life as well.. i almost became so discouraged to the point where I was contemplating taking my G.I. Bill to a trade school and try out a new route for myself, or even going back to the route that worked for me and rejoining the military.. sheesh!

f*** if I know. I didn't focus on that class at all. I had 4 broadcasting classes and this bulls*** required marketing course which I skipped 60% of the time.

I have back to back finals next Friday. Both are ECE (electrical and computer engineering), I don't think I'm prepared for either, and sometimes I wonder why I torture myself with one of the hardest majors at U of I.

  • 2 weeks later...

I take my only final tomorrow (Theology) before I finish my paper on Ayn Rand's "The Fountainhead" and begin my 12-15 page strategic management paper detailing Groupon. Hopefully there's enough sources to use for that length, otherwise I'm going to be doing useless SWOT analyses to fill up space. Luckily I aced the rest of the course so if I bomb this, I still graduate.

Then I have to take two courses in the summer (Beat Literature and Theology of Marriage - bulls*** courses) before working somewhere to get something on my resume and hopefully going to graduate school back at home. For PR at DePaul or something that teaches me skills that complement what I already know.

Finished finals last week...only had two (Marketing Channels and Marketing Strategy), not too bad.

Hard to believe I'm a college graduate, that hasn't sunk in yet.

Same here... I've been loving the last 5 days having absolutely nothing to do. I can do whatever, whenever... until I start work in June, of course.

So summer is my last semester and I had a one last required Marketing class to take, I discover it is not available for the second straight semester. I am able to take another marketing class in its place per my advisor, I am all signed up a couple months back and take a look today, and the class is now cancelled (I have taken all of the other marketing classes). WTF, anyone else ever have an issue like this? I hope desperately that this does not affect me being done in 2 months!

my last class required to get my associates is Spanish 102 which I couldve completed in the summer and then graduated shortly after but the advisor isnt letting me sign up for it because my final grade in spanish 101 has not been posted yet... and I am a native spanish speaker.... :chair oh and he also told me there are only 4 slots available for it.. and this was about 3 weeks ago... looks like my fall schedule will consist of one measly class.. what a waste...
