SoxFan1
I was reading the Sun-Times and it Says that Paniagua and the Sox are close to a deal and he would likely report to AAA Charlotte. I like it, he has some nasty stuff and he was a good reliever until he went to the Tigers and they spoiled him. Thoughts?
KipWellsFan
Whoa, that is great news. If he can get back to his 2000 form.
1549
he cant hurt. Worst case scenario is that he ends up like Ken Hill was for us in 2000....performs poorly retires.
Jim Fainter
IF he signs, he'll probably get a few shots in Charlotte. That will tell a lot. Then, September call up if he is good enough. Other than Cotts, who else is?

Other than Cotts, who else is? Porzio, I guess he could be another lefty specialist. Face one hitter, so he can't screw up too bad lol. mike12345
i think he can really help this club if he finds his old foem and possibly fill gordons spot in the future..he can at least do better than white
witesoxfan
Sounds like a good deal to me. One of those Esteban Loazia type deals. The kind of deal that won't hurt if it doesn't work out, but will reap rewards if it does. You can't lose. And like someone said....he'll do better then White-flag. doubleM23
He was pretty good in Seattle... He can't be any worse than some of the guys we have now.
Bmr31
He was pretty good in Seattle... He can't be any worse than some of the guys we have now. Yeah, from what i remember, he was a good pitcher.
danman31
It's the kind of deal we need. We need an extra pitcher. You can always use more pitching though.
YASNY
That's a no lose deal there. I can see KW or whoever is not just sitting on his ass.

danman31
He had an ERA of 5.83 last season in Detroit.
KipWellsFan
He played in a Mexican League I believe lol. http://www.baseballamerica.com/cgi-bin/sta...aniagua%2C+jose Not really sure, he struggled mightily with Detroit last year I believe. Jordan4life_2003
I'm all for it if we can get him. Gotta give Kenny props though. Even though he makes dumb ass moves at times. It's not from not wanting to win...He wants a world title bad. I like it
KipWellsFan
I think I'd be correct in saying KW is great when it comes to Minor League talent viewing and not so top calibre players.

Yeah, he's made a bunch of these signings. I think that credit goes to our scouts though.
Dick Allen
He sucked in Detroit last year, got waived by Tampa in spring training. It would be a miracle if he added anything to this team. Even his one decent season 2000 he had 52 walks in 77 innings. Since he throws in the low 90's, his performance may be Kochesque.
Soxplosion
he cant hurt. Worst case scenario is that he ends up like Ken Hill was for us in 2000....performs poorly retires. Id agree with that. As long as we dont go trade away Cotts or something, go ahead. He wont hurt us. The worst he can do it to not help us any...

Does anyone know which Jose Paniagua is the one we might sign in this link. I'm guessing it's not the one with the 9.45 ERA, but I'm not sure.
