Steve9347
What in the f*** did he run for on that play!?!?!? We had a guy at 3rd with 1 f***ing out and Juan's percentages are worthless. Bench that f***ing idiot.

Jake
Wow, what a horrible jump that was. He didn't start moving until Penny's leg was on its way back down.
kapzk
i understand the steal since Alexei ground into DP so much... no blame on Ozzie here just poor execution on Juan's part
fathom
Yep, that was simply a terrible jump by Pierre on that play. He needs to be smarter there and just stay if he knows he got such a bad jump.
Jake
With any other P/C combo, he spins the wheels and goes back there. He had to know how bad his jump was, but probably assumed even with a jump that cost him at least a couple strides that he'd be able to get in there off Penny/Vmart

dielac
For a guy that's been stealing bases his entire career, how does he just forget how to do it right? Has he really lost that much speed?
Jake
A guy like Juan should steal off that combo there. He just isn't allowed to wait till release to start running.
Balta1701
Even when Jake Peavy tries to throw a 3-0 pitch down the middle of the plate, it cuts hard away from the LH batter and winds up on the outside corner.
Balta1701
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 02:51 PM) What did Juan do now? Another CS? Did Ozzie send his ass? I think he just had the green light, he went on first pitch, and frankly, this is a combination where he should be able to steal on them.
fathom
Juan's speed was fine on that...only reason it was close. He probably wasn't more than 5 steps off of first by the time VMart caught the ball.

Jake
I love watching Jake Peavy pitch. I have basically the same repertoire minus 8-10 mph. I learn so much watching him.
CaliSoxFanViaSWside
I don't understand running there with a man on 3rd and 1 out. Well I understand Ozzie's thinking there. Alexei has hit into a a lot of DP's. You have a pitcher and catcher who don't exactly strike fear into a base runners heart. But terrible jump/read by Pierre . Penny does throw a lot of ground balls, so Alexei was a 5-4-3 candidate.
