chetkincaid
Is he going to be giving out advice on how to charge the mound? Haha j/k... Good to see Robin Ventura back in the fold. Now hire Big Frank as an advisor too.

Milkman delivers
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 03:48 PM) Sox fans, meet your next manager. I can only hope. And now this is going to be in the back of my mind, so I'll be even angrier when they don't fire Ozzie and probably just end up extending him. chetkincaid
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 03:48 PM) Sox fans, meet your next manager. I'd bet money that if Ozzie doesn't come back next year, the Sox new manager will be Sandy Alomar jr. Um, they did extend him, in the offseason as I recall (or was that a dream? nightmare?). Ozzie will be in town for another few seasons most likely. And if I had to bet on a candidate for the job in the next few years if Ozzie goes, Ventura is at the top of my list.

No. I think Fisk could be great as a bench coach, but not as a manager.
MiddleCoastBias
I know JR is all about loyalty and young talent in the front office but does it really make sense that Robin would be given the job without even a couple years managing at another level? How much managing experience does Ventura have? Has be been a bench coach? A first base coach? Anything? I'm not being a smart ass, I honestly don't know. What has he been up to since retiring and why do you guys think he'd be a good manager of a major league ball club?
Swingandalongonetoleft
Thats the thing. I don't think he has any. I don't see how he would be a MLB manager at this time or even 3 years from now. Nice that he's back in the org. though Edited June 6, 2011 by Swingandalongonetoleft

I believe they picked up his option for 2012. I'm saying that the Sox will probably finish about .500 this season, so the mediocrity will surely lead to a 7-year extension. They gave him a 1 year extension through 2012 so that if the Sox had a great season in 2011 they'd still have negotiating leverage.
