Chicago White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen took to Twitter Monday to defend his slamming of actor Sean Penn, an advocate of Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez.

Guillen, a Venezuela native, criticized Penn for his Huffington Post column last week in which the actor said the socialist leader was not a dictator.

The Oscar winner added that the US Government was lying about Chavez and said calling him a dictator is "defamation, not only to President Chavez, but also to the majority of Venezuelan people, poor people who have elected him president time and time again."

The outspoken Guillen, who has landed in hot water over previous Twitter postings, fired up and called Penn a clown.

"Sean penn if you love venezuela please move to venezuela for a year," Guillen tweeted about Penn's views, adding "But rent a house in guarenas or guatire to see how long you last clown," referencing two cities located outside the country's capital of Caracas.

After garnering attention for his blatant comments over the weekend, Guillen invited "the stupid ones who don't want to see my Twitter" to stop following his account, in his Monday posting written in Spanish.

Though Penn has a Twitter account, he has yet to engage Guillen over his challenge to move to the South American nation.

In April, the 47-year-old was suspended for two games and fined an undisclosed amount when he tweeted in protest to a call made during a baseball game, violating Major League Baseball's social media policy about using electronic equipment during a game.

So the only way you can discuss another countries politics is if you live there?

Obviously you can discuss anything you want in the world without having experienced it. But the people who have been there and lived there will have a more accurate account.

Only if you want to be accurate and not a massive blowhard about it like that tool Penn is.

You could be a political scientist in America and still make accurate statements and observations about foreign countries.

But Penn's still a gigantic tool.

How was he not accurate?

Chavez has changed the laws and their constitution to give himself more power, and a potentially "permanent" presidency. The "elections" he won are largely regarded as a farce.

Of course, Musharaf was doing pretty much the same things in Pakistan, and all the time as our "ally". Plenty of hipocrisy to go around.

All of this said, I rarely trust anything that comes from our government today. Just like when Bush lied to everyone regarding WMD's or when Obama said he'd end the wars. They're all the same, both democrats and republicans- complete liars.

So I hardly believe anything they say, including when they say Chavez is a bad guy. More likely than not we want the oil in Venezuela and Chavez ain't working with us, but it's just a theory. Anyone interested in an alternative read and viewpoint should read "confessions of an economic hitman"- good stuff and will give you a new perspective on how the world works that CNN or Fox News will never tell you.

I don't want to get to into this because this is not in the Filibuster.

I'll just say that I disagree with Ozzie on this and I don't think people are even reading the article that Sean Penn wrote.

If the discussion continues, it will be moved there, so dont worry about it.

Where does Ozzie currently live? If he doesn’t live in Venezuela then when was the last time he took residence there?

I don’t want to stir up a political controversy but he could be on the same boat as Penn as far as living anywhere in Venezuela. Sure he was born and raised there but he now lives a life far from being standard.

Geez, I have seen interviews at his personal home and he would not have that in his native country so of course he will rule out those who live under his luxurious life.

I'll base my opinion off it from people who live there, lived there, or have family there. Not from a millionaire blowhard who stays at a resort in between his "humanitarian" efforts

Ozzie could be a fan of Chavez and still resent a pompous, wealthy American douchebag assuming to speak for Venezuelans.

This too

guillen on chavez cirza 2006:

But he says it is wrong to think he didn't accept the invitation to the White House because of his relationship with Chavez, a political foe of Bush. He said he didn't go to Washington because his wife and three sons weren't invited, and he wanted to share the big moment with them or not at all.

"I know President Bush, and I have seen him more" than Chavez, Guillen says. "I like Chavez the man, but I don't agree with his stuff. Still, I admire him for the way he grew up. And I respect him because he is the president of Venezuela."

100% with Ozzie on this one. While I was in Colombia I met many stand up Venezuelans who left their country because of him. Chavez is a big f***ing joke. And Sean Penn is a big giant douche. I'd love to see him wearing a pro Chavez T-shirt walking down the streets of Caracas with no bodyguards and find out what happens to him. Oh yeah and :gosox1: ....
