southsider2k5
http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/sport..._medium=twitter PHOENIX -- Despite Jake Peavy's wild offer to rejoin the Chicago White Sox as a reliever, general manager Ken Williams said that Peavy will remain in his role as a starter. When asked about Peavy's role after his six innings of two-hit ball Thursday night for Triple-A Charlotte on a minor league rehabilitation assignment, Williams replied that it was never his intention for Peavy to return as a reliever. Williams said the idea of Peavy returning as a reliever "never crossed my mind." Peavy missed 10 months because of a detached latissimus dorsi muscle near his right shoulder, and he is currently recovering from a right groin strain. Peavy is expected to rejoin the Sox on Friday night in Arizona and be activated no later than next weekend. Peavy hasn't pitched in relief since 2000 with Class-A Fort Wayne. He struck out nine against Syracuse on Thursday. In another development, umpire Joe West is expected to work the Sox's series at Arizona. West, who ejected manager Ozzie Guillen and ace Mark Buehrle in separate incidents in May of 2010, hasn't worked any of the Sox's games this season. The Sox also were miffed that a game last August involving West was started despite threatening weather at Kansas City that was stopped in the bottom of the first inning because of a torrential downpour and resulted in the rescheduling of a doubleheader the following day. West was seen Thursday night at a popular Scottsdale restaurant.

kapzk
"Peavy is expected to rejoin the Sox on Friday night in Arizona and be activated no later than next weekend" Wait so when is he gonna be back. Does that mean he's bound for another rehab start cuz it say no later than next weekend so not this weekend? Why would they want him to pitch another rehab game? Real
sucks that this was a groin injury, of all the non-pitching non-serious injuries he could have, this is a f***ing annoying one for sure, i can speak from experience, its something that seemingly never goes away, its even worse for someone like a high profile athlete

Balta1701
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 03:17 PM) I didn't see the game, but no walks and 8 K's ain't bad for sure He wasn't as dominant as this team needs him to be. But for a middle of the rotation starter, a lot of pitches/innings and keeping the team in the game is a good thing. He really only deserved 2, maybe 3 of those runs. Am I the only watching the first innings of his games? Maybe he's over-stretching himself out during warmups and that's why he needs time to find the grip on everything. Of course, that's just wishful thinking. Someone needs to go to the pen but there's not a starter in the rotation who doesn't belong there, at least when Peavy is around. Seriously out of all of the people in the rotation, Jackson and Floyd would be the two worst because of how many times they take multiple innings to find their stuff. Balta1701
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 18, 2011 -> 04:40 PM) Seriously out of all of the people in the rotation, Jackson and Floyd would be the two worst because of how many times they take multiple innings to find their stuff. Really, the only right answer here is to trade one of them. And if you're nervous about peavy, the answer there is to drop Sale down to AAA and have him start stretching out. He clearly needs the innings right now to try to re-find his control and consistency.
