Gotcha.

It just sucks that there are so many factors going against Keith in this one. Add all them up and it just doesn't bode well here.

Whatever. Oduya, sadly, is the key in our system!

Duncan Keith has been given a five-game suspension for elbowing Vancouver's Daniel Sedin in the head.

Keith might have gotten a harsher suspension if he was a repeat offender, but this is his first suspension in his nearly seven season long NHL career. Chicago has only seven games left in the regular season. Keith will be eligible to return on April 5th.

The Preds own the Hawks this year. They look like a legit Stanley Cup contender.

They're absolutely loaded. That team, over a full season, is tops in the NHL.

Positive steps for several injured Blackhawks

TRACEY MYERS

Jonathan Toews skated for the sixth consecutive day today, and coach Joel Quenneville said the Blackhawks captain had another good outing on the ice.

“Those guys all had a good skate,” coach Joel Quenneville said, referring to Toews, Marcus Kruger (upper body) and Steve Montador (concussion). “Everyone was feeling all right.”

As far as when Toews would be cleared for contact, Quenenville said, “we haven’t discussed that yet. He’ll tell us when that time is close and hopefully it’s soon.”

Montador has already been cleared for contact. Quenneville said “we’ll get him some more contact this week… we’ll see how he progresses and get him there at some point.”

Sami Lepisto (left leg) also skated some this morning. Quenneville said Lepisto had tried skating before but he had “his first real spin” today.

Great to see Toews is close to returning. I say run him in practice as much as possible but don't bring him back until the playoffs start. Sucks about Montador. How many setbacks has this team had this year? Jeez.

Random factoid I had no idea about.

@LaurenceWHolmes: 5% of NHL is black*. 8.5% of MLB is black. High mark for NHL, lowest for MLB since 2007.

Interesting. The Blackhawks roster is over 10% black.
