Clendening and Saad are their 2 2nd rounders, both of which look to be really promising prospects. And they're already getting great production out of Andrew Shaw, the 5th rounder. Dylan Olsen was their 1st rounder in 2009, Marcus Kruger was a 5th round pick that year. Jimmy Hayes was acquired for our 2nd rounder in 2010. With the guys they have under big contracts, they are going to have to keep getting production out of the farm system. So far so good, but it is going to be an annual fight to stay under the cap. Dave Bolland had like 135 points in 50 games while he was there. Now, Dave Bolland is a solid-above average player in the NHL, but a superstar he is not. Each team has 4 games left: LA 90, 3rd Dallas 89, 7th Phoenix 89, 8th San Jose 88, 9th, outside looking in One game, or even a point, could be the difference between hosting a first round series and missing altogether. Yea Hawks struggle badly against teams with good goalies. Not that Howard is bad, but guys like Quick and Rinne are much better. Add solid defense and the Hawks won't make it out the first.
