Buehrle>Wood
It's in the catch-all but this deserved it's own thread. It didn't work out last time but maybe we can now work out a deal with them. If not now, then during the offseason. Let's all hope together.

A lot of that depends on White Sox season, but many here seem almost too certain Oz is gone come next year.
whitesoxbrian
I don't think anyone would be surprised if it didn't happen. However, (yet again) if they can land a few young arms or bats, or a proven young player, it'll be fine by me.

He'll go there on his own with the blessing of management. He may even get fired this year as a favor to Ozzie to get started with his new team. And he'll do great there. You all (not all, but most) will b**** about the next manager because that's what fans do, b**** about the manager/coach. Sox need to start thinking who will be the right fit. I'd say we will be in rebuilding mode, so it will be a guy like Quade who will have to take it on the chin for a while and be the scapegoat. So who will be the next manager? It'd be easy to just name Bell or Cora. The future looks s***ty for the White Sox so you all will have a lot to b**** about Ozzie's replacement. spiderman
Something like this wouldn't happen until the off-season.
greg775
QUOTE (spiderman @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 07:41 PM) Something like this wouldn't happen until the off-season. Sox are one good losing streak away from being 10 under and getting Ozzie fired now. Especially with the Marlins wanting him. Things can go downhill in a hurry. Thing is, KW deserves the axe just as much.
chetkincaid
I'm not convinced Oz won't be here next year and I'm not convinced that the Sox won't be crowned AL central champions this year. BUT... If he does end up leaving, I'd bet the farm that his replacement here would either be Sandy Alomar Jr. or Dave Martinez.

Can they handle the heat though, if the team is beginning a downward spiral? Everybody on here seems to agree there are very few prospects in the minors. Balta1701
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 19, 2011 -> 03:12 PM) Sorry, but using that logic means that about 25 plus Major League teams will be changing managers every year If they've lost the division 3 years in a row, yeah, a lot of teams will change managers then. That's the definition of "all in". We bet everything on this season. If Ozzie can't turn that into a division championship, then he's busted and we walk away from the table. greg775
You guys act like this is a desirable job. With no prospects coming up and an aging team with no bullpen, we got problems for any manager. Cito might be smart. A guy with no other options. A have a sneaky feeling we'll just name Cora. Getting paid a couple million dollars a year to be a baseball coach is a pretty desirable job, especially for the hundreds of other coaches around. And again...Cito Gaston is 67 years old and retired last year. He's done his time.

Soxfest
Guillen for Stanton sounds GREAT to me! Sox will even throw in Oney's tweets.
caulfield12
Greg, would you really be happy with Guillen coming back if the White Sox finish 3rd, 4th or last? Why? If you consider the "All In" strategy a failure, you prefer to fire KW instead? Because there are thousands who would want to be White Sox G.M. (starting with Rick Hahn) but not very many managers desiring the job? Hmmmm....I guess that explains 80 year old Jack McKeon possibly returning to the Marlins.
