I would hope that the people slinging insults like this in the thread about strengthening the rules are being at least warned.

That's exactly what I meant in my long post a page ago

That's not really an insult

Have you read any of this thread?

For all the talk about WSI, which I have maybe visited twice in my life because it blows, this site has clearly taken on a different character in the last 12-18 months. In my opinion, the quality has decreased.

What seems to be being said is that this is a product offered by Jason, with rules or guidelines for behavior maintained by the moderating staff, and that despite some posters' insistence that this be some sort of receptacle for everyone's frustrations, the quality has decreased to the point at which the product is no longer being consumed at what is deemed an acceptable rate by Jason and/or the moderating staff.

It appears to be fairly simple. Pick up the quality, use common sense, post intelligently, and emotionally, but not recklessly or deliberately ignorant. If that is too difficult a line or level to ascertain, than this is probably not the White Sox message board for you.

This.

I honestly don't get why some are having so much trouble with the concept - s*** post after s*** post after s*** post is just not conducive to any kind of intelligent discussion at all and just makes people give up and leave PHT alone. But a hit dog will howl, I guess.

Just don't be an obnoxious, annoying douche when stating your opinions. It REALLY is that simple.

Insinuating that someone is an obnoxious annoying douche is not really an insult?

I'd be offended if that was directed towards me.

I guess it could be looked at as if he wasn't insinuating those things and that it was just a general statement, but I didn't take it that way :P

Don't ACT like an obnoxious annoying douche is only an insult if you actually intend to be an obnoxious annoying douche.

Why don't we all just move on? Stop sucking up, the "mods" made the rules try to follow, if you don't agree pm a mod a talk about it, but I'm kinda annoyed at this battle and kinda miffed that a lot of posters have thrashed Jordan for stating his opinion.

The subject of this thread is NOT about "rules", establishing a hard-line people can't cross, or punishing people for "sharing their opinions"... It's a conversation about reducing the FREQUENCY of over-the-top negative posts. Sharing one's opinion... positive or negative... is fine!!! But the frequency of hyperbolic (over-the-top) negative posts are in the opinions of many people reducing the quality of the board.

As someone said earlier, the fact that this thread exists and is promoting a conversation on the topic where people can share their opinions... is a good example of what makes SoxTalk different and better than most boards which would have simply banned people without discussion.

What people should take away from this conversation is that leadership of the board wants very badly to maintain/improve the quality of the board and involve other SoxTalk members in the process. And that the solution proposed is for members to: (a) be aware of what is considered a problem by many people, (b) take responsibility for the quality of their posts, and © avoid getting caught up in the negative feeding frenzies that have dominated the board lately. If so, then self-policing will have worked, and banning, hard-lines, etc., won't be necessary.

I've seen several recommendations to close the thread... suggesting the topic has been talked out. So, I'm going to go ahead and close it.

If anyone thinks I jumped the gun and believes it should be re-opened for further discussion, please pm me.
