Iwritecode
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 10:45 AM) I've never seen any of the Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th or Halloween movies I watched all the Nightmare on Elm St. movies when I was a kid and found a box set of all of them at a used DVD store a few years ago. I never got around to watching all the Friday the 13th or Halloween movies although I'd seen about half of them. Just last year my middle daughter discovered Jason and Michael Myers so we went out and found all the movies and had a marathon of watching them over about a month. Y2HH
QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 11:40 AM) I watched all the Nightmare on Elm St. movies when I was a kid and found a box set of all of them at a used DVD store a few years ago. The original Halloween isn't very scary by today's standards, but it's the flag bearer that basically invented the invincible killer genre as we know it. So historically speaking, that's what makes Halloween 1 so important. The ending in part 1 was the first time anyone saw anything like it...and it's beyond creepy. BigSqwert
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 11:57 AM) The Terminator. Damn that sucks. It's too late to get the true feel of it since it's so dated. I loved that film back in the day. So dark.
Swingandalongonetoleft
If we're talking about movies I want to see, but haven't: Taxi Driver Movies that I have no desire to see but everyone can't shut up about: Hangover(s). I watched H1 about midway through and took it out of my dvd player. I gave it to my lil bro. Transformers franchise Fast and Furios franchise Avatar ALL of those dumbass spoof movies. I've actually lowered my opinion of people I know who have admitted to watching and/or liking these.
Balta1701
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 12:25 PM) I think the original Star Wars movies fall into that category for sure. Those movies revolutionized action movies. They were like the Beatles for my generation. I'll take Empire up against any Sci-fi movie that's come out in the last 10 years. The only competition I can think of is the LOTR trilogy...and that was kinda a book.

Milkman delivers
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jul 1, 2011 -> 11:20 AM) First, this is a great thread. I watched Bull Durham because for years I heard how awesome it was. I thought it was meh...it wasn't bad, but it's not the type of movie that if I see it on while skimming channels that I'd stop to watch it... Same for Scarface and Godfather. After years of hearing how awesome these movies were, I watched them and thought they were meh. I liked Godfather, but I didn't like it nearly as much as Goodfellas. As for Scarface, I thought it f***ing dumb. While there are some classic lines in this movie...it just wasn't good to me. :/ Scarface is way overblown. For some reason, rappers thing it's the greatest thing ever, but it's just a decent movie. I disagree with you on The Godfather, though. I liked the original Scarface more, to be honest. A few of the 'Scary Movie' movies are pretty funny too. Haven't seen Spaceballs, but I know quite a few people that love it. I wasn't grouping it with those movies, though. Just about anything mid-late nineties and on though-
