ChiliIrishHammock24
QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 2, 2011 -> 07:14 PM) Phil Humber could be the White Sox's representative the the All Star game. Miggy, Tex, and A-Gon will all make it over Paulie, right? Maybe Santos will get a selection, or maybe AJ.

caulfield12
Nobody. And very few were "sure" what we'd get out of Sergio. Certainly nobody was predicting 16/18 or 17/19 in saves, whatever he has. On the other hand, if you put up the numbers for Dunn/Rios/Beckham/Jackson/Danks (W-L) (and Thornton) at this point, you'd have to guess we were 6-12 games under .500 and on the verge of breaking the team apart. Say what you will, KW always seems to come up with guys like Humber or Sergio on the cheap...enough to almost offset the "big/bad" moves. And 7-1 in Peavy starts? That's a bit unexpected as well. Konerko is most deserving, along with Humber and then Sergio. Alexei would have been on the outside of the conversation about 2-3 weeks ago. Same with Carlos. BigEdWalsh
Who's have thought Adam Dunn would be hitting .168 with 7 homers and 29 rbi?
Rowand44
We actually have about a handful of guys who can make a solid case for an all star selection, Humber is definitely one of them.

maggsmaggs
10 starters usually go to the All-Star game according to a Trib article I read: Automatics Weaver (Top three pitcher in the AL this year) Beckett (Ditto) Verlander (Ditto) Sabathia (more on reputation than pure numbers this year, but still pitching well) Haren (great year + name) Shields (Six CGs, enough said) So there are six guys that are for sure going to go. That leaves four guys to be selected. Last Options Humber Gonzalez Pineda Ogando Tomlin Price Lester Felix Hernandez I am not going to put their statistics on there, but Humber is as good as any. Felix probably gets in on name, ditto for Lester and Price. So, IMO, Humber has to beat out Gio and Pineda. Ogando has dropped off a bit and Tomlin has a 3.86 ERA. So we can hope... winninguglyin83
Isn't Sabathia pitching on the Sunday before the all-Star break and likely out of the game. Thought I read that he plans to go to the Bahamas.

Because its an "exhibition" that matters, they got rid of the pitcher batting and there is DH in NL parks too

Dick Allen
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 3, 2011 -> 02:15 AM) Humber's performance today was really really impressive. Is this guy for real?? Man he's a great great story this year. He's real so far. Might as well ride him as long as you can. He's Estaban Loaisa II. He may totally suck next year, but this year he's one of the best in baseball.
