caulfield12
Just for you, Hawkeroo. Brandon Inge can: High jump 6'6" Dunk a basketball Kick a sixty-yard field goal Throw a baseball over 100 yards on a football field Hit a scrappy/grindy .199 with 1 homer and still be the fan favorite in Tiger Town

caulfield12
http://www.heavethehawk.com/Hawkisms.html That's a pretty darned good list. Forgot about Matt Abattacola. "Stretch, stretch, stretch" has to be right up there. Dadgummit. He's up there cutting and slashing. (Or was that Paciorek?) I can't remember if it was Warren The Deacon Newson or Paco Martin. What was the one he always used when Ozuna was up or running through the bag throwing his arms out and calling himself safe? I love to watch Ray run. ChiliIrishHammock24
I'm not sure what to think of that list. I feel like some of those are pretty plausible, and then some are pretty unlikely, like his high jump and especially kicking a 60-yard FG. caulfield12
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 01:47 AM) Most Tigers fans generally hate Brandon Inge. Maybe he's lost some of his appeal in the last two seasons because of his offensive ineptitude, but when I last went to a Tigers game, he was clearly the fan favorite. I guess that was April or May of 2009. Now it's obviously Verlander with nobody else even close. But I always thought of him as kind of like Joe Crede or Aaron Rowand in terms of his fanclub membership.
witesoxfan
Why wouldn't Miguel Cabrera be a fan favorite? Because of his drunk driving record?
iamshack
QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jul 5, 2011 -> 01:47 AM) Most Tigers fans generally hate Brandon Inge. I don't think you could be more wrong... Brandon Inge is one of the better guys in professional sports, as far as I am concerned. He does extensive work with sick children and the children's hospitals in the Detroit area. Linky The fans recognize this and he is indeed a fan favorite because of it.

caulfield12
And I forgot one: He can drive a golf ball 400 yards. He's supposedly a very good golfer.
maggsmaggs
Brandon Inge once caught Bigfoot, but felt bad for ruining people's life goals of catching him and thus, released him. True story.

Everyone acknowledges he's a nice guy off the field, but most hate him. The girl fans think he's awesome, the guy fans dislike him a lot. He's kind of a terrible baseball player. bigruss
For years he was loved in the Ann Arbor/Detroit area (lived there for 5 years). But his inability to hit has caught up to him and the lvoe that the fans have for him. I do remember an article would come out every spring training about how athletic Inge is, they say underneath his uniform is a football body, nobody would dare fight him, he's the most athletic player on the team if not the majors, etc. Reporters and players raved about how in shape he was. maggsmaggs
QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 01:01 AM) Anybody have any interesting info about Chris Shelton? He carried my fantasy baseball team for that one April and then did nothing the rest of the way.
caulfield12
Must have been 2004-2006, somewhere in that time period. The kid who played 1B for the Pirates the last couple of seasons kind of reminded me of him. Flash in the pan. Kevin Maas, Shane Spencer, etc.
