caulfield12
Thought this could be the post-game venting thread to get it out of our system/s. Dunn, please don't let Ozzie hit you 3rd again this season against a LHP until your BA is over 200 at least. Morel. Please hit away the next time you have a 3-0 count against Bruce Chen, that's likely to be your best pitch to hit. Paulie, even the great ones have a bad day when they get themselves out against a pitcher like this...same as opposing hitters feel about Buehrle. Congrats to Hector Santiago. We never knew you. Edwin Jackson, please please please get a feel for your offspeed stuff again (like 2010) and stop pumping fastball after fastball in there to start every single at-bat. BigSqwert
I don't understand how anyone thinks this team, as constructed, will be anything more than a .500 ballclub.
fathom
The two most talented teams in this division are underachieving, meaning everyone still has a chance. /thread
LVSoxFan
If our only measurement of success is that we suck but so does everybody else in the Comedy Central--I'm not taking that action. When it comes to out-sucking each other, I'll always go with us, 2008 notwithstanding.
The Ginger Kid
waiting for the annual "We Suck" quote from Ozzie. Maybe he's saving it for the weekend?
caulfield12
You'd even have to say the Tigers are underachieving a bit, although not everyone was convinced that Scherzer and Porcello were quite ready to be aces this season. They have Verlander, Valverde, Boesch, Cabrera, Peralta, V-Mart and Avila. The rest of their team is worse than what the White Sox throw out there 8-25 on a daily basis. But those are some darned good players, obviously Verlander and Cabrera being perhaps 2 of the 5 most valuable players in the game today. caulfield12
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 6, 2011 -> 04:03 PM) waiting for the annual "We Suck" quote from Ozzie. Maybe he's saving it for the weekend? I think he already exhausted that during the 4-18 streak. He might need to go back to it after this Minnesota series. The Ginger Kid
i think the tigers are getting great seasons out of the true talent they have. They just need more talent.

greg775
The Sox are afraid to act like they want to uh ... compete. They should have done it before the KC series and the restart of Comedy Central Division games, but the time to do it is now. Bring up Dayan for the Minnie series. But no ... that might show Minnie we think they are a threat and we respect them. What's wrong with showing you want to change things and actually compete. The lineup as it stands is putrid. Viciedo won't save it but it's time for a change. Whether people want to believe it or not, dropping 2 more to KC is really really bad. GoSox05
For the Sox to be anything more than a .500 team, they are going to have to change the offense. I just don't see that happening.

BigSqwert
I say we bring up Viciedo and sign that crazy Cirque Du Soleil guy that threw a backflip fastball for a strike. If anything, we can get more fans to the ballpark. Edited July 6, 2011 by BigSqwert

Greg, how many times have we lost 2/3 to KC in the last 5+ seasons?? Too many times to count. They just grew and grew in confidence after 2006 against us. We used to play them and you'd assume we'd go no worse than 12-6 in the season series. Now we're struggling to play .500 ball against the Royals. Imagine if you're the Red Sox and you got swept by the White Sox, haha. And Adam Dunn won't have to face Liriano in the 3 hole. Baker, their most solid pitcher along with Duensing, might not start Sunday. Oh, and Ozzie, don't you dare let Adam hit 3rd against Duensing, either. 7-13 in the AL Central just won't get it done. 7-27 (0-4) against the Twins, 1-5 against the Tigers (including a streak of 8 in a row dating back to last year) as well. The Twins will get back a healthy Morneau in mid August, get back Span, get back D. Young...they still have a chance to make a run at this.
