maggsmaggs
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 04:46 PM) No way he wasn't making the team They would not have brought him up to sit on the bench, which is what would have happened had he started the year on the Big League club. whitesoxbrian
QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 04:46 PM) About 2/3 of the way through spring training. I knew that. I thought everyone meant he did it again recently.
caulfield12
They weren't going to spend $19 million on the DH position. Not unless you have Pujols, Fielder, Miguel Cabrera, etc.
ILMOU
QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) This is as good as Buehrle's looked in a long time. Vintage. It'd be a damn shame to waste it, again.

Soxbadger
I can name 1 football player who was a good baseball player, Bo Jackson. I can name another on the field today, Joe Mauer, he had a scholarship to Florida State.
caulfield12
Wilson Betemit beat out everyone in MLB in Spring Training the other year and they weren't ever going to start him. CQ as always going to be the starting RF in their "All In" year, no matter what Dayan did in ST. Edited July 9, 2011 by caulfield12

whitesoxbrian
So, no football player has ever been a good baseball player, according to Mitch Williams via Ozzie? Frank Thomas? Bo Jackson?
Soxbadger
Frank Thomas was no good, Sox should have never drafted him because he was a TE at Auburn. And wooo Beckham

caulfield12
Doubtful even Lillibridge could have scored on that had they pinch-run him. Maybe...10% shot. Why we even expect a 2 out hit with RISP is beyond me. Morel needs to go to AAA, though. He comes up looking curveballs and gets fastballs and gets down in the count nearly every at-bat these days. In some ways, he's worse than Dunn because Dunn MIGHT get into one and can also take a walk. Edited July 9, 2011 by caulfield12
