StrangeSox
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 12:38 PM) Maybe it was strange, then. I don't feel like going back. Whatever. But I don't have a problem with them, either. Well to move in with anybody you would have to know them fairly well. I guess it depends. You have people that are outwardly gay. Like they have np problem letting the world know. Like you don't even have to wonder. It's obvious. The clothes they wear, the way they walk and talk. Was anybody shocked when Ricky Martin or Lance Bass came out? I don't think I could be around that every day. If you're more reserved about it. And not throwing it in everybody's face 24/7, yeah, I could deal with that. Keep that s*** in the closet!

StrangeSox
QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 12:39 PM) Just don't be all the way gay! I have no problems with gay people as long as I can remain completely oblivious to the fact that they are, indeed, gay and they're not my child. Totally cool. Iwritecode
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 12:21 PM) I do think it's gross. But I can accept if others choose that way. I could never accept my kin choosing that way. I'd feel responsible. Like I did something wrong. And like I said earlier, it would hurt me to know that I would never see a grandchild or that the family name dies (assuming I only had one kid) when he died. There are such things as adoption and even surrogate mothers if you want the actual bloodline to continue. The kid can have whatever name the parents want to give him/her. StrangeSox
QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 12:36 PM) Just a question out of curiosity, say you are going away to college and you have a random roomate, would you consider it wrong for said incoming freshman to prefer to not live with a gay roomate? Good question, imo. I'd have to say that yeah, it's wrong but that I understand where the discomfort would come from especially if you really haven't known any openly gay people. Steve9347
The fears that J4L brings up are common ones, I don't want to act like I'm completely shocked he'd have them. I just can't believe he'd so openly state all of this information and in the same breath claim he has no problems with gay people. J4L Homsexuality Rules 1 - You better know I'm not gay. (ie, I'm off the market dude) 2 - Just don't act gay in front of me, or 2b - Don't throw your gayness in my face. (ie, act straight) 3 - Don't force your porns on me. 4 - Don't have crazy loud gay sex all over me. 5 - I will not accept my gay child. Your views of homosexuality are clearly based in reality and you also clearly have no problem with gay people! That's it, we've hammered it home. I don't need to repeat myself any more. You clearly have a problem with gay people and have admitted as much, but refuse to admit it. Edited July 12, 2011 by Steve9347

WHarris1
FWIW, without taking sides the point he was making with the porns wasn't that someone was going to intentionally swap a gay porn so that he had to watch it. It was clearly an analogy.

bigruss
QUOTE (WHarris1 @ Jul 12, 2011 -> 12:36 PM) Just a question out of curiosity, say you are going away to college and you have a random roomate, would you consider it wrong for said incoming freshman to prefer to not live with a gay roomate? I would not consider it wrong for them to initially think that, since society tends to promote such thoughts. That said, it is why many university housing departments force freshmen to stay in their assigned room for the first 4 weeks or so, so that they can actually experience it, learn from it, and hopefully find out a way to deal with it (or actually enjoy the experience). I would say that if a person has even a slightly open mind that most situations that I saw as an RA that the person who thought he couldn't live with a homosexual turned into a better and more accepting person because of the situation.
